Preparing for interviews - 02-11-2009, 12:14 PM

Hello Puys,

I was wondering if anyone could help me out with certain queries related to job... I have just graduated, B.E (IT), and have applied for job as a entry level software developer. I am trying to figure out how do I prepare for my job interview. Which books do I refer for aptitude (I have RS Agarwal and OG12), what all JAVA concepts do I need to brush up before going for an interview ??What other technical stuff do I need to prepare (I mean theory subjects from semester 5 to 8 in engineering) ??

I have also applied to certain management consulting companies which hire fresh engineering graduates, but don't have an idea about interview at such companies. The companies that I have applied at Ernst & Young, McKinsey,Deloitte,PWc, BCG,Bain etc etc. Can some one just give me a brief about the interview process and preparation for the same ???

Any help is highly appreciated.

Thanks & regards,
Starwalker.

@ winner,

thanks for the link man... i used the search utility before starting this thread but could not find some thing of this sort.

Carefully go through my post, i have asked for JOB INTERVIEW not interview @ B-school. Also, I am asking for a briefing about the interview conducted at these companies and how to prepare for them. Kindly read the post properly once again.

Regards.

Re: Preparing for interviews - 02-11-2009, 06:00 PM

subject of the thread is very general in nature.

PG has a vast resource of MBA interview experiences which includes interviews of work experience holders from various fields. If you are serious you need to go through them and skim out things of your requirement smartly.

even if this thread becomes active, in short period of time, it wont give you that mass of ideas which you can get from the workex MBA intv exp.

ageneral search for "management consulting" could have give you this two good articles, among many others

25 most Frequently Asked Questions by aspiring Management Consultants | PaGaLGuY.com - India's biggest CAT 2009, MBA website

How engineers can break into Management Consulting | PaGaLGuY.com - India's biggest CAT 2009, MBA website

that is why i said you should use the search utility before starting new threads.

hope it helps!

@ Graphs,

Thanks for your reply. Could you please help me by telling me how does a interview happen for a fresh engineering graduate at any of the management/finance consultancy firms ?? What all things do I prepare in order to get a job @ any of these firms.

Regards,
Starwalker.
