Hi Govar,
I cant believe it - CTS a 9 to 5 job??????
God .....its flexiwork here and official timings as per their offer letter was 9 to 6..
But I had been working my a** off for the last 2 years from 9 to 10 (am to pm)...
only i know how i managed CAT....
i can assure evryone tht 99% of the software comps dont gve u a 9 to 6 job....its always 9 to 9 at least..
only exceptions occur when u r in bench or when ur project is waiting for kick-off....

Regards,
Sandy

Hey Sandy, the information is second hand. 14 of my classmates and about 50 of my batchmates from my college (GCT 2002) are working in CTS. Most of them say the timings are reasonable. THats all I know. I don't know for sure whether you are a rule or an exception.!

Hi Govar,
if ur age is 22 and i deduce that ur frnds are also 22 ...then chances are they hve joined very recently and are doing the trainings now...so thts 9 to 5/6 ....cool life ..
more like school days.....
but let them get into projects........and
if they are not so good frnds of urs please pm me their names...
i will take good care of them :-) .......

No yaar believe me i am the rule .....be sure of tht...
even the SBAs work their a** off.....
actually it all depends on how u want to fare...if u wanna leave early u can ...
nobody wud stop u...but very tough to leave if u really are a responsible guy who wants thngs done bfore leaving for the day......otherwise I know of guys who are 6 years into CTS still PA!!!!!and people who are 5 years into CTS and are asst managers......

Hey guys,

Thanks for all the advice.
Govar, i checked. All the folks i know in s/w have horrid timings. The only 9-6 was during training.

The order is changed too :

TCS, Wipro, CTS (highly unlikely - they are miffed @ not being co. #1) HCL, Verizon

Since Wipro's pay is marginally lower than the other cos. (everyone else is i think, at 2.4pa) i think i'll just start with tcs and see how that goes cos they are hiring some 60 ppl

makes sense??

also, i'm in ece

yep have to agree on that one - there have been times when i came in to office at 9 am on a sunday and left at 6 am the next day - went showered, shaved and changed and came back to office at 8:30 - guys, frankly i doubt there is ANY software co. or to stick my neck out ANY company that will give absolutely u fixed hours at work - all they do is set targets and deadlines, and from my experience there is really no way u can get off work at 6 and expect to beat them. Even tho' I have resigned from CTS ( so pretty slack ), my team mates all get home only by 9 - 9:30 on a normal day -gen, in this sector, there are peaks and troughs - there will be times when u gotta really put in a hell lotta effort and at other times, utterly jobless ( and no, the latter doesn't come first  ) - tho' just when u start work, maybe things are a little slack but trust me, once ur in a project it's pretty hectic

Hey, nope. Im 22, yes, but I've got 2 yrs work exp. So do my classmates.

Okay, mebbe I was wrong... I was all along thinking that the timings are good in CTS... If its horrible, its horrible. ;-)

HEY KDOTARVIND!

Infy has a written test and an interview if it is off campus....
i had my exam on may 16th and int on 18th and i'm thru...

the exam has 2 sections
(i) puzzles
(ii)English Usage

for puzzles in written exam do shakuntaladevi part 1, and english usage is very simple....

if u r thru the exam they wud announce u'r name the same day along with the date of interview..

in the interview they ask puzzles for whichj u have t prepare from shakuntaladevi part 2 (MORE puzzles)
they will ask u every damn thing under the syn..
in my interview they took it for 35 mins and asked me everything except my subject of engg (electrical.... hmmm ... saved )
so gud luck man!!
