Re: pleeeease help! - 25-04-2008, 03:18 PM

ps: This aint boasting of any sorts...

HI,

I have attend close to 10 GD/PIs( my signature tells it naa:1eye and the question that s been asked to me the most number of times after "introduce urselves" is " so u r also from XYZ hah?.. from morning u r the 15th person whom i m interviewing from this company..why so many IT people here aah???"

But on the otherside my company has a visibility and if u can project urselves well it wont be an issue. and do take my word...the image that u will be projecting about urselves has got nothing to do with the actual work u do at IT field.(my sig tells it naa:1eye

Lot of Bschools give calls based on profiles. So if u have a good profile and if u r enjoying ur work and if u have a smocking hot CAT score then there is nothing like that.

Too early to predict anything from our part.
The parameters u could weigh in before taking a decsion are

1. Career ambition( do u want to be an MBA or not)
2. Salary offered
3.Ofice timings
4.The kind of work u r going to do..( are u offered same profile @ TCS as an engineer?)
5.Bond

I am signing off with My personal opinion: (By IT field i mean biggies infy wipro tcs cts acenture ibm etc)If u are very much interested in coding then u will never like working in IT filed..And if u hate coding then also u will never like working in IT field..So take an informed decision. Anyways my take will be go to that educational product based company..u will enjoy it ...being a maths grad

ciao,

ciao,
I Completely agree on this...
If possible defer ur joinin date in tcs if u r in any confusion...U will get sufficient tim to prepare...n if u really put in hard wrk,u will definately land in a gud b school...Anothr imp thing in many b schools 0 month workex is equivalent to 11 month workex...if ur wrkex is less than a year in many b schools u r treated jus as a freshr...no marks at all...

So i think u can take a pick...
N d brand part of tcs, its gud...bt u gotta do mba vat u ll do wid d brand...so first set ur priority...vat do u wanna do in d end ...u cant hav many things at d same time...take a decision n stand firm to it ....

Al d best..

Cheers:new_scatter:

There are plethora of can get into a core team, new projects soon. Whether the team size iswell there. But risk free option would be TCS then.

If I were you, I would join EI. But I have my reasons straight. Think in a structured manner by asking yourself a lot of questions and doing What If's.

Pradeep has alredy said everything....nothing much can b said after that...
Really more than brand name what matters is the quality of work...EI is started by IIM alumni so a thumbs up here...plus joining EI will give u a diverse profile...

Now it depneds upon you if you enjoy this Education type of work it will be really gud to join EI..but u have to be very sure what kind of work u r goin to get @EI..tat is key...

I really enjoy working in education sector ..had i been in ur position 1st thing i wud hav done is...to know xactly wat wud b my profile/work @EI if its good...gives me a gud learning...I wud have definitely taken EI...

nad bliv me u can enter in any IT firm..any time any day...

Kitty, wish you loads of success and happiness for your career. I agree with the view that an EI job has a lot of uniqueness and could be a great add-on to your resume.

In addition, even if you don't make it through CAT, you can target GMAT, and try abroad. Since you have an interest in EI, you can try going to courses on Learning Management, Instructional Design etc. These have an established market in the US, and an emerging one in Asia.

P.S. Could you please change the name of the thread, so that it captures the essence of what is being discussed here? Thanks!

Kitty, then please think of a name and send a PM to estranged_gnrs or prem_ravi. In case you don't know how to send a PM, lemme know the name you'd like for this thread, and I'll do the needful by writing to the mods.
