Hi Puys,
I have a career dillema. I have 3 yrs of IT Software Development experience in one of the most reputed firms of the world. Trying my luck for MBA abroad this year.
Profile:
B.E. Top 10 Engg Schools, Computer Engg
Good Acads
GMAT 720
Software Developer, India
3 yrs of experience
I applied to US, UK and Singapore and I am getting a ding everywhere and the problem is that feedback I am getting is that my experience is too technical experience.
Now if nothing happens on MBA front, I am planning to go for a role change as a Business Analyst/ IT Sales and Marketing/ Business Development Manager. I will be first trying in my own firm, and move out to market if my company does not allow it. I am pretty certain that I would not like to continue in software development field and would move into management roles.
Puys, I am planning to work in that role for about two years and then apply again to US.
My query is that, do you recommend me going for this change and strategy of applying again after two years with some management experience? Also how many of you have been able to do a role change in your organization? Is it really tough for your own organization to allow this or you had to quit and join another firm for a role change? Also without a MBA will it be very tough? It would be really good if I can get names of companies which hire engineers for such roles.
Hoping to see a good discussion.
