CFA & your current working profile - 16-04-2007, 05:19 PM

Hi all,

I've been reading threads related to CFA since long. Certainly in this job market, degree is very important and that too an globally recognized one.

But I do have concern which is practical & very relavent. Let me ask all ppl a simple question regarding CFA.

-> Are you working on a profile of equity research/ kpo/ investment bank ?
-> Do you have enough money to spend ?
-> What matters for you - knowledge ? degree ??

I need these answers not to discourage any of you, but I myself needs to clarify on this issues. I'm working as an equity advisor with a reputed firm. I'm planning to enroll for CFA level 1 and that's why preparing the ground for me so as to have proper career planning.

Second is, when I'm working with a profile which can not be said to be a research profile, would it be viable for me to enroll for CFA level 1 which costs nearly 30,000 rs ( its a very big amount for me).

I think it's better for me if I work on research profile and then enrol for CFA. But what needs to be done to get entry into research profile ??

Please let me know what should be done to get into the research ? or the simple answer is CFA level 1 ???

Thanking you all,
suresh.

I dont really understand what the point of this thread is. I guess the finance biggies here, TumTum et al. will be able to answer your career-related questions better. (TumTum dude, im back on the CFA thread and hope to write to you soon! ). As for the questions that i CAN answer, refer below:

Approvals and celebrations will rarely surround your inner decisions and choices to follow Personal Truth. You will be challenged and taunted: “Who do you think you are, anyways?” And, indeed, through your choices and decisions, that is precisely the question you are answering–to yourself.
