Re: CRISIL Certified Analyst Programme - 20-05-2009, 10:07 PM

Hey, your key assumptions themselves are wrong.. 5 lakh to 7 lakh p.a.!! Thats d pay package that is offered to MBA graduates or to students who have finished the CCAP course. When you are joining this course, you will be at the level of associates in the company. The pay package of an associate is Rs. 1.5-2.5 lakhs irrespective of how long the person has been with the company. So your calculations go for a toss..

But if i were to think of it, taking the average salary as 2 lakh p.a ( which is purely justified) and considering that 2/3rds of the time( 4 days a week) u are with Crisil and 1/3rd ( 2 days) with NITIE. The fee for the course works out to be 1/3rd of 2 lakhs which is approx 66 thousand per year .. So that is what CRISIL would be paying to NITIE.

The thing i wanted to make clear was the internship part which puys would have understood by now. If you take up the CCAP course, then i guess a better option would be an executive MBA after a few years and probably not a full time MBA.

Next, you can obviously not compare the CCAP program with the management program of ISB, Hyderabad for obvious reasons.. D point that im trying to make is that it is not recognised by any body in India. So obviously there is an element of risk in taking up a course which is not recognised and nor has had any batches pass out and go further on. The course is worth only because of the work you get to do at CRISIL and not much for the course structure. What future prospects the course holds for its students is yet to be seen.

And yeah i had spoken to a large number of people working in the company. I would advise people to speak to neutral people with in the organisation and then decide. And yeah study leaves before Exams, not likely at all..

Re: CRISIL Certified Analyst Programme - 21-05-2009, 12:53 AM

@rajisthename
well I take the 1st point very gracefully abt 5-7 lacs....
5-7lacs is a bit too much of an estimation...
Crisil pays the INTERNS 8K p.m. in the first year and 10K p.m. in the 2nd year.......For the same work done by a new hire, he is paid a lot more.......The difference between the two is used to finance the cost of the programme(i.e. CCAP)........This is the simple thing which I was saying;; I'm not sure what actually you interpreted out of it........I hope what has been said right now will bring more clarity.........okies.......

As far as 4/5 and 2/3 part is concerned...........I just want to put the facts right on this one(no offences please).....CRISIL has a '5 day' work culture for its employees(Monday to Friday only).......as far as CCAPians are concerned, their involvement is for 6 days(4days with CRISIL and 2 days with NITIE)....so comparing 4day work of interns with 5 days work of employees means 'intern=80% of the employee'......

The point on RISK is purely valid.....certainly CCAP is a risky proposition, as of now.

It offers only one Certification called 'CRISIL CERTIFIED ANALYST PROGRAMME'........which follows a study-cum-work format(4 days working @ CRISIL + 2 days study @ NITIE)........

www.crisil.com/ccap

Moreover CRISIL does provide certain training modules for the middle level mgmt professionals directly financed by the cos.... That are more like the executive level modules..

I would also like to explain that ISB offers a 1 yr MBA Prgm which is equivalent to an Executive MBA itself & doing CCAP & working for 3-4 yrs in CRISIL will give you a decent profile to show for any Executive MBA for that matter of fact.. The views posted with regard to ISB by ani.davv is a personal opinion..

As far as CCAP goes, i seriously feel that it is above a MBA Finance in any of the so called decent B Schools in the country.. It makes Hell Lot sense to join CCAP to any one interested in doing Finance & after reading the previous posts by ani.davv giving a wholistic view about CCAP, one should not have any kind of appherensions with regard to the joining..

Hey all Puys and Anirudh,
Cool people you guys have done great analysis on your part. Seems like everybody got his homework done. This is truly great for the benefit of CCAP program.
I am a graduate from the first batch. My reactions after completion of the program :
-- I am truly happy with my compensation. Its been a good reward in correlation with my performance, same with everybody
But compensation besides your performance is also a factor of ur business unit interms how it is fairing in tough times like today... a nature that exists all over the world in all companies... every1 got the minimum 5.. lot got more... but no 8-9 lakhs plsss, dont be soooo optimistic, CRISIL doesnt pay this much at all at entry levels.....
-- I got a certification from CRISIL for my study as wella s Work-EX... (the work certificate says that I was associated with CRISIL from 2007 to 2009 as a part of CCAP..During this period I WORKED from Mon-Thu with my department) plus i will get a certificate from NITIE too, its not in hand till nw due to some operational errors but its a surety,,...... So tmrw if i go out for job hunting, i will show them all, market myself by projecting that I hv 2 years work ex... i will be able to prove as i know wat i worked and 3 months into the job i did the same job as a CA or an MBA... plus an association of a 2 year full time prog wit nitie is in itself an added bonus.. the amount of contact hours of the study portion are equal to a standard MBA in any b-school.. u attend classes for more than 1000 hours...

No technical WorkEx exists... so no counting of 2 years work-ex for any b-school admissions where it is mandatory

I work with GAC

Well that's all I know... CCAP has been worth the risk for me, but before joining the program I knew that following things:
--This aint an MBA
--This won give me any AICTE approved degree, I never cared about it..
--I would try and get the best out of the program and the names attached to it...

Please weigh your objectives, options and aspirations well before joining... any querries call me straight.. my contacts are available on Contact Us CRISIL CERTIFIED ANALYST PROGRAM

Ambuj,
Dont be good, be the best.
