Re: Learning from a DISTANCE! - 15-07-2009, 12:05 PM

Can anybody help me to decide that what institute is better for one yr post graduate course on Supply Chain between "SYMBIOSIS (SCDL)" and IMT. I've found that IMT is more theoritical, where in SCDL there is option for online assignment and Exam. In context of course content I think IMT is better beacuse it covers material management and basic management topics also. I am a Bcom graduate having more than 7yrs exp in operation and IT. So which course will give me better worth?

Pls help me to decide since the session is being started.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

I have a similar query.

I am working in software industry. I am looking for part time MBA pgm. Therefore, I want to go for distance learning pgm. As I am already in IT Profession, I want to persue MBA in CRM stream or any other stream that is added advantage to my Profile.

I want to know, weather completing MBA through distance learning will be a value addition to my Profile? Is there anyone who is benefited by this pgm?

CRM is offered by very few colleges. Symbi, pune is one of them..Is there any other college providing the same?

Also, I went through the Sikkim manipal university. It offers some of the nice course, like te Project Management and TQM. I have an engineering graduate degree and I am not sure if I am eligible to join this course -
PG Diploma in specialization areas of MBA (Project Management ). Can anyone give me guidance on this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!!

hi , I have done my grads in Bcom (H) from DU 06-09 ...my results have just come out and the aggregate is just 57%.now i want to make my profile stronger so i thought of doing a diploma course so that it adds-on to my profile .The diploma course could be in business management or any thing else but i thought that (BM) WOULD BE BETTER. I heard that IMT distance learning program is one of the first one to start with such a kind of thing AND A very reputed one.Now i m not sure whether spending 20000 for the course is really worth it or not. Moreover i will have to devote some time for this course also which would as a result deduce the time 4 me to prepare 4 cat .Also bacause i m working in my own family business due to which i m already getting very less time 4 the preparations but then
WORK EX IS also important as i m kinda dropping an yr after grads. Now another question in my mind is that whether showing that i have worked in my own family business will really be considered or be given its due importance or not.
So Please help me as i m really not able to find guys with my kind of a profile who is not an engineer but a bcom and who is not working in somebody else's firm or company but in his own family business.

Hi Folks,

I am new to PG but used to refer the valuable discussions here on a regular basis. I have some questions here regarding PG courses.

To give some background about myself, I have around 5.5 years of experience in IT and want to upgrade myself by pursuing
some MBA course this year. I know its a late to enroll in most programmes but I was not able to decide for a couple of months now.

The prospective options which I see available to me would be
1. Distance Learning course (Finance) from Symbiosis, Pune. (2 year, no entrance exam needed)
2. IIMC Certificate course through NIIT Imperia in Finance (1year but with an entrance exam).

A couple of questions?
1. Given my experience (5.5+) and the fact that I do not intend to leave my current industry, will a Distance learning programme from Symbiosis help? I am basically looking to just upgrade my knowledge about how businesses/market works and how are they related to me while I am working. I do not JUST wish to remain pigeon-holed in my current technical job but on the other hand would just like to grow in my current field.

2. Regarding IIMC programme, what I observed is that the course content might get too technical in finance and the classes on weekend would make it tough to purse it along with current job. WOuld it be worth taking a shot at?

Please do advice for I do not want to let the current year whisk by without getting enrolled in some programme. Any suggetions would be really helpful.
Thanks in Advance.

Re: Learning from a DISTANCE! - 13-09-2009, 01:40 PM

MY PROFILE IS SOMETHING LIKE THIS>
I am a science graduate, passed last year, joined SBI in Jan, 2009. I passed JAIIB exam for bankers ( conducted by Indian Institute of Banking & Finance). Preparing for its Second part CAIIB.
As per the MOU between IIBF & IGNOU those students who pass CAIIB get a chance of DIRECT ADMISSION to IGNOU course of MBA IN BANKING & FINANCE>
Here I am confused. I cannot take a regular residential course, I have to go for a certificate or Distance Course. I need your suggestion. Is IGNOU (Banking & Finance) course good? Or I should try for XLRI & others? Although I don't know about the market value of any of the DL courses.
Please Help/

Re: Learning from a DISTANCE! - 17-09-2009, 11:35 AM

Hi All,

I have 3 years experience in the IT field.
I have felt a need for an "MBA" degree, since right now i have a BSC (Computers) degree only (which does not hold much value )

Since it is not possible for me to pursue a full-time MBA (family issues), i am planning to go for a distance learning program.

Can anybody please guide me as to which distance learning is better from these:
1. Welingkar's Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Administration -- (PGDBA - DLP)
2. NMIMS's Management Programme for Executives (MPE)
3. NMIMS's Distance learning Post Graduate Diploma Programmes

I am keen to do the MPE from NMIMS, since there are weekend lectures (as compared to the Distance learning programs, where there are no lectures at all ).
Also, the Welingkar's program seems to be good.
But i dont know the value adds that these will do for my career.

Guys pleeeeeaaasssseee help me with this.
