Since u asked for other domains as well .. and u being from IT ... u can try for the ITIL ITSM foundation certification.
It is a mandatory thing if u plan to enter the services industry and join big names like MS, HP or IBM.

These are the certifications I know of;
NCFM (NSE). There are a total of 7 independent modules. AMFI is usually considered to be the easiest, hence usually the first one that students take. There are also equivalent exams by BSE (BCFM). Almost mandatory in Financial Services sector as everyone seems to crack it.
Certified Financial Planner (CFP). This is a core finance course, but advantage viz-a-viz CFA/CA/CPA is that its much shorter.
iCISA. Information Systems Audit - for Chartered Accountants.
APICS CPIM/CIRM/CSCP. These are domain certifications in Supply Chain Mgt. The basic course is CPIM which comprises of 6 modules. Conducted by IMRMI in most Indian metros. CPIM (or atleast its basic modile) is fairly common amongst MBA students n good b-schools.
ITIL ITSM. Has 2-3 different levels.
Six Sigma. Quality certifications. Hal multiple levels denoted by "belts" - green, black etc
PMI. PMI has two different exams. The CAPM can be taken with lesser work experience.

Hi
I am a Six Sigma Green Belt and now I am working for a CPIM certification by APICS.If you are interested in manufacturing or SCM you can go for this certification.But as you said that you have worked in banking and fiancial services .ITIL certification is foundation certificate in IT services management.But I guess It will not be helpful If you would like to enter BFSI sector after your MBA.You can go for
NCFM if you are interested in capital markets ,its a great value addition.
CPA is a international certificate and is really useful.Since you already have experience in technical field ,go for certifications which will increase your functional knowledge.
Thanks
Alok
