Hello PGs,
I have just traversed into the career section.....and it read a post abt plannin careers in finance? Even i used to think a job in finance domain wud be super cool ....but after a little introspection...I have found that i really find Consumer Electronics industry facinating....wit all the research goin on in the nanotechnology space the future cud be truly mind boglling ...if we are to belive the predications made be head honcos of big firms.
Now i hv read the thread about pursuing CFA...to plan a career in fincace there are specific steps to be taken ....but if one has to plan for the profile as a Product Manger ....who are responsible for making Ipods , moto razr's , xbox ,PS2, nokia etc ...what are the steps .....??
do u need a course in VLSI and work ex? or MBA in operations? can you follow MBA marketing route?
Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm.

This might throw some light on what s/w biggies expect in product managers...
And yea, it ain't about VLSI and stuff....what dya think Product managers do day in and day out?? stress test their Xboxes and PS2s and then debug all the reboots and burnouts ??

Hey man tx ....nice write up by Mr Balmer ....i know that product manager dont strees test xbox and ps2...but my question is still unanswered ....wht MBA specialiasation is required to that kinda job profile......is it
Operations (cos a lot of parts go into makin a product)
Marketing (essential to market new product or technolgy well , case in point -- 3G even though that technology was not perfect and now prefected by HSDPA ..it was very well marketed and created a lot of buzz)
Systems (i hv no idea abt this , but is this also a route)
Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm.
