Hi there..
usually universities dont hav any set criteria but mayb sometimes thy may specify tat u shud b a graduate in science i.e. B.Sc(pyshcology) fr doin a MA in psychology. but tat' not the rule..very few insti, infact d bes ones' specify.
Dunno about mumbai' universities.try serchin 'a2zpsychology.com'.

PS: Yer' truly is in MA (final) psychology. 1 more thing, bfore gettin into a university or colege do make sure tat d college has d specialisation u vouch for ie. Industrial psycho or Educational psycho or Counselling psychology. Try doin yer master' frm a good insti n thn u can go for Academics..by doin PG diploma frm NIMHANS..banglore...thn ther' one in delhi also..thn in Ranchi...some few very good insti. Hop it helps.

Au Revoir

hi sampadapai1
i have done my grad in psychology from MS univ of vadodara ,gujarat.. though i didnt complete my MA from the same as i decided to take a year off for cat, i can vouch for its credentials,
MSU can boast of one of the most exhaustive course curriculum, like one of my profs mentioned, the best in asia.
they have specialisations in the fields of educational psy, industrial, counselling and clinical.
another good aspect is that msu offers specialisation right from the 1st year ma unlike other insttutes, infact msu vdodara offers specialisation in the 3rd year of ba itself, i had taken industrial psycho as my major in ty ba
teachers ar egood but well u will really have to worrk hard if u really wanna excel.. like all arts subjects.
the best part about the course in msu is that they have weekly placements( inhouse and outhouse) right fromthe beginning of the course ; a feature which to my knowledge is not offered everywhere.
but lemme warn u of the drawbacks too,, as it is a govt(read lazy) it doesnt offer campus placements, however most of my seniors got job offers immediately.
let me know if u need any help
ps- though nimhans should be ur 1st option
the problems u cud face being in baroda is prolly a small cultural shock after being in mumbai.. but sth for career i suppose

Info needed on MA in psychology PLS GUIDE ME!! - 03-02-2009, 11:17 PM

Hi all,

I am new to this forum, 24 years of age & have graduated as Bachelors of Business Administration (Full Time from Jagannath International Management School degree affiliated from Guru Jambeshwar University Hissar) in the year 2005 with 60%. Since then I had been working with logistic firm into operations department.

Now, would like to change my profile and make my career probably related to human resource or dealing with development of work arena & work culture. Since nowadays it is so much stress and hue and cry about issue and Management is only confined to treat employee as resources. Hence I want to bring some qualitative aspect towards this approach J

So, want to study further in a discipline which could act as a catalyst for me making my position in corporate or public sector with another dimension, though would not mind to be part of the rat race of pursuing MBA being the most luring career option nowadays to students, in case nothing shapes out in strategy I am planning in.

Hence, could you please help me with below details (if possible):

v I am eligible for pursuing Masters of Arts in Psychology or Masters of Arts in Applied Psychology (if yes what is the procedure and scope in universities in India & abroad)?

v What is the difference between these two and which one is most suitable from career perspective?

v What is the scope of it as a career and possible remuneration from it if one compares the same with MBA from a top notch B School in HR which one is higher and more respectable.

v Students are required to appear for any entrance tests for MA in Applied Psychology, If yes what are the tentative dates for the same.

v Also if one would like to pursue the same from Universities abroad which are the top most ones and also are there any scholarships, accolades one could apply too.

v Also what are the career prospects of the same in India and Abroad (in context of employment) and renumeration attached to it.

Please give me as many details as possible as I want to start my career in psychology. I tired a2zpsychology.com but din got any replies there :(

So looking towards a positive response

Thanks in advance.

Regards
Ruchi
