I think in Harward every second word would be a slang..I dont see the Video to be surprising rather Iam surprised by the fact that our people were shocked & surprised to see the same & have made this an issue...

More than anything, providing a link to the video was/is/will be a big surprise to me...

Where are we heading now is a big question to be asked as well as to be answered...

re: [PaGaLGuY Debate] The dark side of our B-school campus cultures, traditions and more - 21-07-2008, 10:53 PM

I am not from an engineering/hostel background and I arguably am surprised. I do find it surprising to see that a lot of engineering folks find this normal - I guess that is how the system is.

What I can't justify is 'a coach' who teaches women how to abuse.
A culture which glorifies abuses because that is the way to be.

I hoped to see more class and elan - but I guess that is not to be. But heck, this is not valid in every school. There are enough schools where this does not happen and would shock people because of the sheer crassness of behavior exhibited.

we are not talking about any graduate college here but a PG B-school where some of the best minds of the country go..
Boss, these guys have earned their rights to go there and they decide the rules! Our money is in safe hands. IIM C churns out the best managers, precisely what it was meant to do. IIM C was not meant to be a Beacon of morality. The rules there are decided by the alumni. We cannot comment of another's way of life, especially when are aren't part of it.

Quote:
And yes it pricks somewhr when an IIM or an Xlite does this cause they are some of the best minds that we have to offer, and if we xpect them to behave in a more parliamentary way,is it a too far fetch a demand..?
Demand? What sort of demand? What are we demanding? that people kill their instincts? Don't B-schoolers have their own life too? Who are we to impose standards on them? Seld professed moral gurus?

Quote:
now its ok to indulge in light banter but what defeats me is the kind of expletives that were used in this vdo and the extent to which it was carried out,

Quote:
yeah ofcourse B-schooler are entitled to have all the fun they wanna but somewhere down the line you would also agree that a line should be drawn(now then again its a person perogative whr he/she draws line).
What gives us the authority to draw the line? Do I see any of the parties involved or showing dissent?

Anyhow, I'd say that we ought to leave the best where they should be. Discipline and other issues strictly come under the purview of the Colleges involved and I guess we should stop commenting on issues like these situatuionally and take into account the bigger picture

My only request is to not associate this with IIM name tag. This is specific to IIMC. Not with any other IIM.

Regards,
ismbaneeded

With a pile of 300 résumés on his desk and a need to pick someone quickly, my boss told me to make calls on the bottom 50 and toss the rest.
"Throw away 250 résumés?" I asked, shocked.
"What if the best candidates are in there?"
"You have a point," he said.
" But then again, I don't need people with bad luck here ."

what i am even more shocked is that pg decided to post this on the site. This is reprehensible. Sure the thing might be needed to be brought into focus, but is this the way a person can show down somebody of a rival institute. I thought there were quite a few other ways. Not that the vocabulary of the thing is bad, rather, the unconcerned way in which these girls (albeit quite stupid) to have got themselves recorded on a video cam.
When will these girls learn, do what you gotta do, but not on a cam, somebody is gonna take advantage. Now what happens if this video gets to IIMC director or lord of lords, the news channels.

Pagalguy miods, take it off. If not for those stupid girls who made it to IIM-C, then at least for others who might just be led towards a similar display for their few minutes of fame (aka shame) on some newschannel.com

Till then, we can look for more such "madari ka bandar" displays on this kind on rivalry. Awesome, awful. You choose. For me, i am going to keep my eyes closed to pagalguy for a while.

Oh Come on Lord PG
I know this coaching thing is slightly over the top but then this is just the talk, video doesn't substantiate it. Secondly do we really believe we needs coach to teach anyone abusing , however hard we may deny, its quite just another natural tendency of human mind to curse ya choice of words can differ across nationalities, gender, region, classes and all. So take it this way, yes its bad to curse and only mad people do this so here we see bunch of women enjoying "Insanity" Now don't tell our PG (both forum and Alwin ) is against people going wild for a moment.
Now please don't allege that the IIM in question has deliberately made such video to spread this art of celebration or cheering your opponents in a special way

re: [PaGaLGuY Debate] The dark side of our B-school campus cultures, traditions and more - 21-07-2008, 11:05 PM

So i feel, the junta can accept that we deserve our privacy. When this video was posted outside the campus, nobody would have imagined that it would be the article in PG !!! If they would have known, they would have refrained from doing so.

Exactly my point!!!

When the world today is primed with MMS scandals and what not, one has to be careful when venturing out. Who knows? Someone might just capture you in that 'awkward' pose to make some few bucks and have some fun at your expense.

By the way, if PG is indeed following those pieces of c*** called Indian News Channels, then the head honchos of PG have got it all wrong.

You should have titled this article as "Breaking News: B-skool culture exposed - PG, first on the scene" -> A story on how B-skool students are wasting hard earned tax payers money. This is how the News Channels go about doing it. They have one almost every day.

Bah!!

Mridul

Andy, nothing personal - but I truly don't know of women who'd do this. I now know it can be coached and taught though. As for the 'coaching' part, we have proof that it happens. Apparently every year the students at IIM-C appoint someone to god father the women's hostel team and to teach em how to say the things you heard/saw on the video.

I hope people see that isn't normal behavior and well, if people do start thinking this is normal - a good dose of decency is in order if nothing else

I am sure there are some sensible people there who can understand the privacy of such events. I hope they act soon. It aint accpetable, even if it is done by boys. Not acceptable in public. Not even claiming it to be right. What if the parents see this. proud parents!

Thats my two cents. I have mailed some people there. Mods I would personally request you to get rid of this article if its not an issue.
