Re: Job profiles after MBA - 07-06-2008, 09:23 AM

I am all for differences of opinion and a healthy arguement taking place...but m not too sure if this would be the right place to do it...

Frankly if i am still to do my MBA and i want to have a look at the profiles of puys who have passed out i would not want this thread to be too cluttered, having to sift thru pages to look at the actual profiles....

Any workaround for this?

Hey thewise one..

Thrs no key/way to ensure that you get a free good fin profile...(subjective to college..the companies which come for placements..etc etc)..

As per my experience with MBa is concerned make sure that you know the fundas well (Accounts...FM1 soecailly)and please please make sure you are really good with Macro economics....(it is really really really important for various fin profiles after MBA)..

I think the rest all should be cool...Go thru Economic Times..be aware of the latest happening...and choose optional subjects which interest you..Valuations..Project Appraisal.. etc etc

This all should prepare you really well for the fin stuff in future..

Good Luck..

Hi Puys,
I am currently working in IT industry with almost 3 yrs of work ex. I am deepy ineterested in doing MBA from finance but I don't want a job in bank after that.
Can you tell me if doing an MBA in finance can make me eligible for finance departament positions in companies (Preferably IT).

Profile Name: Business Development Manager

Profile Description: Developing business for the company through presentations and technical demos, in India and outside too. Client dealings and technical support. Marketing positioning and planning.

B school Name: TMU, Pune

Batch: 2008

Sector: Biotechnology

Company Name : TwinOxide International B.V.

How is it different from a job as just a graduate? Does not involve anything technical. Never worked after graduation. But yes the degree and the designation do earn respect and support from all. Even mistakes are overlooked sometimes.

Re: Discussion thread on job profiles after MBA - 12-08-2008, 04:04 PM

Hola People.....

my take on the profiles after MBA has as many as 3 angles:

1. My Example {representing the satisfied lot}- I am a Functional Consultant for Oracle SSI, Bangalore. No work Ex....B. Com for DU....I always wanted a chic job, though my heart lies in Marketing, i toook up HRMS module which was offered by Oracle. The kind of Knowledge building that Oracle offers the employees transforms their worth 3 times in the market. I am really happy and loving it.

2. The Well paid lot- DE Shaw, UBS, JPMC and the like offer huge packages {relatively}, they make you do a lot of work. Long work hours, massive applications etc. But people are not dissatisfied but they are too exhausted to complain.

3. The I-Dont-Know-What-Am-I-Doing-Lot- Many companies do not stand up to the expectations of the new joinees...co's like UBS, DE Shaw, HDFC, ICICI etc fall into this category too....its usually the people who dont like to perform in a certain role, call it a bad profile.

I understand, we all pay a certain amount for the MBA exam and invest a lot of energies in hunting the right kind of job and finally converting it. We got to accept certain un-controllable factors....market, economy, personal choices etc etc.
I hope my point it well taken.
Cheers

doing good work in niche products.
so IT co's hire MBA's for this position.
Hope the info is of some help.
