Not a bad direction. That fits perfectly to what you have done and what you want to do.

IT has good opportunities, same as Finance & Marketing. Depends on the market conditions though.
B Tech and MCA are obviously more qualified in terms of the degree they carry. But BCA candidates are not ignored in front of MCA and Engineers. It depends that how much knowledge you can show in PI.

hi mahip,
i've done my B.E. (Mech) from pune nd currenlty working in a mechanical manufacturing company as a sales & marketing Engineer.
I'm thinking of doing an MBA in Marketing....Can u throw some light on following queries:
1.) Is a job profile of marketing good enough
2.) what are the best institutes for pursuing MBA-marketing.
I'll complete my 1 year work-ex this month.

i am a time student from mumbai . my name is pankaj i have completed my computer engineering graduation in june 2009 . sir pls help me i am heavily confused.
i want to do mba in systems although it is too early to decide .but i don't want to go into finance ,marketing,hr . from my seniors i have heard that there are marketing,BA, project manager ,pre sales , qualtiy testing manager etc as well as other profile jobs after mba systems . from the profiles above is there any profile which requires work experience .
beacuse some of my seniors say you should have fair experience of SDLC, coding experience etc so that you can guide the development team which technology to use , which thing to do more efficiently etc also for profile other than marketing of techincal product you will require the work ex of software development . is it true ,
also i don't want marketing ,hr ,sales profile after doing mba systems . so can i choose profile other than these if i get placed .i want profile of BA (businees analyst) but do this field also have marketing in it . i know it is very early to think , but keeping in mind systems specialization only i have decided to do mba .
also i have heard that if u do not get a good college and not placed then u will face a problem since you are mba systems fresher . whereas hr, marketing ,finance people won't have that much problem.
i am sorry for asking such a doubt but i will be thankful to you very much

All top colleges offer Marketing specialization and all of them are good. The job profile of Sales and Marketing is totally different and you should get this cleared before selecting any course.

Any experience counts man! SAP , consumer durables - retail: these all are hot topics. Should always help you. Learn as much as you can on the job.

Yes, MBA in IT & Systems means the same.
Though there might be 1-2 subject difference from college to college. Else more or less it is the same.
Advanced "Software Engineering" is part of MBA course, managetrial aspects of project management and resource management covers this.

Most of the things that your seniors have pointed out is correct. With some IT experience it is always easy to understand the job profile post MBA. Not that non work ex people cant work, they are sometimes better than work ex people. Depends on how much domain knowledge you have on the specific assigned project.
This is a myth that HR, Finance, Marketing people wont have much problem but IT guys will face problem if they dont do MBA from a good college. Now how do you define good? If you do MBA from top 20 colleges then I dont think any field should face any issue. Though this year coz of market conditions all the above mentioned specilizations suffered in placements, it was not just IT. Since you have decided to go for IT, then go for it and study well in theory to get more knowledge. Keep yourself updated on latest technology.

There are a lot of exams like CAT, XAT, JMET, SNAP, NMAT, etc etc required to get admission into a MBA college. And all MBA colleges offer IT/Systems specialization.
