yes, as per IIMB's PGP selection process made available this year, they look for a min. of 85%ile in all sections for CAT, and the same criteria holds for GMAT while preparing the shortlist. Wondering whether they consider AWA in this bracket as well, as only a score of 6 will be above 85%ile !

That is a good point. I just went and checked the IIM B website and you're right. For general candidates you need have 85% in every section of the CAT and that is the same criteria that holds for GMAT students as well. Going by the way they described it, I would assume that it holds true for AWA as well.

[Update] I just realized that the data there on the IIM B page was for the previous year. They haven't listed any cutoffs for this year. However, there is no reason why it should drop. As far the AWA is concerned, we should confirm from IIM B adcom.

I have spoken to a few IIM B students over the past few days who all seemed to agree that a 6.0 minimum AWA requirement was not expected.

BTW, I'm sure most of you have also applied to IIM Kolkata. Any idea when they get back to us? I'm assuming it should be late this week or early next week. Any updates?

I'm not sure I quite follow. When I had inquired they had informed me that the interview itself would probably be in March. But shouldn't they send out the interview invites a month before the actual interview... or did they tell you that they would sending out the interview invites in March itself?

Hi Sandipan, from what I've gathered - IIM C's interviews take place quite late, towards end of april and the results are declared in a week. This is consistent with the calls being declared in march. So all in all, its a long wait for IIM C.
And it seems that IIM B will be the first to come out with its results (sometime in march).

Re: NRI Admission to IIM - 01-02-2008, 07:08 AM

I'm in California and I'm app'ing to IIM-B in the overseas category.

IIM-B's application requires a demand draft for USD100 and this draft has to be payable in Bangalore, India. Any clue on how to get such a demand draft made ? Would a regular cashier cheque that the banks make here in the US work fine ? How can I make sure that it's payable in Bangalore ?

Thanks !

I applied to IIMA and just sent in a normal cashiers cheque from my US bank and it worked. I know a friend who sent his app to family in India and asked them to attach a check.

Also, if you are overly concerned, you could go to a State Bank (or another Indian bank) branch .. I think there is one in L.A. ... not sure where you are in Cali.

Thanks SrivShi.
I also heard back from IIM-B on this - a regular cashier's cheque would work fine. As per their email, a rupee draft for an equivalent amount would also be acceptable.
