BBLT members (Tanveer, hameed...) and Prem Bhai, don't loose heart. Remember people reach finals of Wimbeldon and don't win ( Andre Agassi yaad aaya?) and then slowly but firmly make their mark and never look back
Ya this is a big loss but then giving CAT back to back itself carries tremendous pressure and whatever youngsters may think but unlike few other exams its more tough to crack CAT with increasing number of attempts as with attempts increases our mental dogma and also many considerations in addition to just exam
Ok, so what you have lost....An opportunity to study in India's best B-skool?? What it wud have done to you, We all know why everyone wants to be there because arguably its the best portal we seek for our careers, but now is it correct in assuming that loosing that institute means loosing all hopes of reaching top??
So, chill brothers, may be your paths are different now, but no one has anything to say about your destiny............. I know its there much better than what this bloody exam is trying to suggest........... So go ahead, buy one Laxman's poster and play your best innings under Follow on!!

Saturday Night, I did everything I wanted to do to make myself ready for Sunday, the Nov 18th. I was ready. But on Sunday evening, I was picking the fragments of my shattered dreams, and was feeling the pain of failure travelling thru the entire body, and I was unable to sleep even.

Immediately after writing the paper, I was very very uncomfortable with everything. From QA to VA to even DI, I was really not happy with how it went for me. The urge to check my scores, and to know where I stand was so high that i headed straight to an internet center and started checking it. I was more than shattered, and as questions after questions went wrong in QA, DI and VA, I just managed not to cry in the internet center. If TIME's key and predictions goes correct, I would get 21 in QA, 34 in DI and a 19 (?) in VA. The verbal scores hurt me the most, as I have worked on it for 1.5 years. Thats a total of 74 (?) marks, and I will end up in the 90-92 percentile range.

It was in 2004 it started for me. The only thing I bank on is not intelligence, not brilliance, not capabilities, but hard work. It is my only strength, and even today if you ask me to start preparing for 2008, I can start. With that alone as my sole strength, I started as a true underdog, a man who was licked even before the battle started, coz of no real talent. But I failed in 2004 in that 123 question paper, where I got choked. In 2005 i failed in 90 questions paper and I was doomed again. In 2006 I gave a break, as CAT was taking the life in me. Still I worked on my reading as i kept on reading everything I get my hands on, in an effort to improve my VA. From Nov 2005 until June 2007, I was reading for around one and a half years on various topics, every news paper, every magazine and every wikipedia article. Little did I knew that the disaster for me will be in the form of VA as I continued my reading unabated about countires, continents, HDI etc etc etc, and come June 2007, I decided to give CAT my last try.

But some 30 odd hours back, my last try in CAT ended up without even a single ray of hope. I was outgunned, oursmarted, outdone and outperformed in every section. I just lost it, and there is nothing I can think of doing now.

I would be having 5 years of experience come June 2008, and I thought Joining IIMs with 5 years would be okay, though I would have loved to join with 2 or 3 years experience. Now, I am not sure about trying again, as that means I will be 6 years in case if I end up in IIMs! With 5 years experience, going for NON IIM B schools doesn't sound good for me. I don't have the guts for GMAT, as I am not comfortable with Computer Adaptive Tests. I screw computer tests big time, and getting out of this jinx is highly unlikely for me (I work in IT!).

So, thats the end of my dreams, no colleges will call me with this score, and I haven't applied for FMS/IIFT/XAT (Because of my 5 year experience, i thought nothing other than IIMs can be a good reason to leave a job and study).

What more, LIFE GOES ON! My dream of an IIM PGP guy finally got over on a negative note.

hii man... FMS and XLRI are not tat bad.. the deadline is nov 30.. fill the form for those.. take the decision later of not doing or doing from ther.. abhi 1 or 1 and 1/2 mnth pad lo... ATB !!!

assumin that 20,000 ppl studied hard workin their ass out for the past 8 months or so and assumin that they are damn sincere...finally only 1600plus are goin to be selected among them

so where will others go..may be another 300 in xlri, fms, iift and other top school..leavin away the A grade and Bplus

will all those ppl take cat again...
can they afford GMAT and the cost of studyin aboard or
will they jus say bye bye to cat..if they say bye bye why did they take cat.. they don ve any dream,...

These are the points that flashed my mind..after checkin my scores and i thought i really got to do something to change this in india...indian educational system sucks...(personal opinion)

Comin on to CAT 2007...

1. ppl said CAT is movin towards reasoning as calculators can do calculations and all CEO and managers ve laptops which comes with built in calculators

2. ppl said IIM wants ppl from all background so they wont make quants very tough as that would be a disadvantage for ppl from non-engineering back ground

3. ppl said CAT is movin towards GMAT and verbal is going to b less of grammar and more of verbal reasoning..(althought this may be rite n 2007 also)

4. ppl said n number of things and i believed in many of the things ppl said..but alas....i don think many of ppls predictions came true....

Hameed's post acted like a flashback for me..IMS class TIME class ..time test series...
I ve been thro all the stages he had mentioned although i was not religious during 2004 and 2006.....
but this time i was doubly sincere n doubly religious..i don know whether i can work harder than this..may be i can but i m not able to say it confidently at this point of time....

My scores

DI - 43
Verbal - 26 to 32..
QA - Single digit

IIM dreams shattered...B schools below IIM no hope with my QA score..

but lookin forward for other exams...i ve all the agony anger aggression n hard emotions still in my heart i don wannu pour it out now...i wannu prove myself in other exams...i wannu prove that HARD WORK PAYS...

WILL STRIKE BACK....I SWEAR..

Its authentic all right!!!

Cant ever forget some of those mind blowing words in English..and the need to calculate every option in DI because of multiple correct answers..and of course the GK..Cant believe I got 5 of those correct!!!

My fav GK question was 56

A. Chlorine may be collected by downward displacement of air, as it is two and a-half
times heavier than air, or it may be collected over warm water.
B. Chlorine is a greenish yellow gas, easily condensed to a liquid; it does not burn in air,
but many substances burn in it, forming chlorides, just as bodies burning in oxygen
form oxides.
C. Because of combining with free hydrogen, chlorine is not able to separate hydrogen
from some of its compounds and to combine with it.
D. Chlorine bleaches mineral colouring matters.

In the above question you had to be sure of 9-10 facts before you could earn 0.85 of a mark!!!!
No wonder people were getting calls at 18-20!!!

Wanted to make a detailed and informative (read inspiring) post abt my outing at CAT 07.. but it can certainly wait for few more days (IIFT se free hone do).. meanwhile, my scores
