Well it seems to me that there is already a mechanism for that. After the last page, there is a small box which is half-blue half-gray. Click on that and a textbox will pop up. Enter the page to which you want to go in that textbox.

We now have many threads that are a must see for n00bs. Many of us now incorporate these links into our signatures. For technical reasons, the signatures are limited to 700 characters only including links and code. The links to 4 of such major threads, and the link to the search page now total 408 characters themselves. They are:

Now, in this scenario, there is an issue of optimizing our signatures.How many of these can we fit into our signatures, and people like me also have to put in other links as well, and someone would want a quote too... what all do we fit in, in 700 characters only?

My take on this is opening a new thread - with just one post, which has all these links and more. We can put in the link to this thread in our signatures, and the search link - so that even our signatures are optimized, and the n00bs get to know where to go from that one single point. What say?

I volunteer to manage this thread, if so required.

Couldn't we have a list of say related threads (say 5 and on the left side bar)?

For example: if you are looking at prep on GMAT (related threads on the side could be other GMAT threads and these could be there based on ranking, user feed back etc?)

That was tried...
Some time back, there was a functionality called related threads... it used to be at the bottom of the page, after quick reply. But unfortunately, the algorithm used to relate threads was wonky, and you saw chit-chat threads being linked to cat threads, and many wouldn't even have been updated - relevance and recency were not taken into account.

So, the feature was killed.

Why don't we have "Today's Birthdays" on the forum page anymore..?
It's a real pain going through calendar n finding out. And,anyway I've also noticed that Calendar hasn't been updated yet. It's upto December 2006. The year 2007 hasn't been featured in it yet. And we could also do with the option of setting reminders in the Calendar.. what do you say?

Changing user name is not encouraged (& provided) because...we at PagalGuy.com want to create a unique identity of ourselves...Not change it ever often ..just for fun (or for the kicks of it)

besides...that case....a person can be X at one time...Y at another time...and another person can grab X when it is available...creates unnecessary confusion & accountability of posts is lost

If showing up "Today's Birthdays" is a bandwidth (load issue on Index page) issue (Showing 103000/365 = 282 avg user names per day)...What we can do instead is atleast give a link similar to the one on calendar.
