Guys you can go to this link for more info.. http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/...es/1479112.cms
basically it tells you the whole story,
i will paste a section of the article here.. The ISB students have been offered several senior management positions such as COO, VP-International Marketing, Head-Marketing, International Country Manager Designates, and others, from leading domestic and international companies. Again two ways of looking at this: 1. We have come of age and the world notices India and the kind of offers have been signs of good times ahead.. again these guys who were offered these positions have had excellent work ex, so i guess the offers speak for themselves. 2. ISB has always encouraged people with diverse backgrounds, i.e. their GMAT scores, their work ex are not the only factors, recommendations from others, community service are also an important factor in their selection, whearas other institutes like IIMs, XLRI,MDI, SP JAIN, give freshers importance. So obviously the kind of profiles/salaries differs. So the comparison is not fair..
My musings...
Why cant reputed institutes also not include these "other" factors also in their selcetion criteria?? I mean marks is not everything. Is it??

ZICACKLY!
In the US, 'managerial experience' is a must for an MBA.
High time our MBA colleges stopped recruiting only on the basis of CAT or any other xam marks.
But on the bright side, good experience is definitely being given greater and greater weightage. But the dream will only be realised when it is given EQUAL weightage to academecia. Quote: |

My only question is when it is known that a person with "wholesome" ideas can contribute better, why are we still sticking to marks i mean both entrance marks and academics..
anybody listening??? | | | | | | | |

what a waste ..mod bhai pls delete this thread.
I have recently joined PGPX at IIMA and noone is even talking of salaries. ofcourse the biggest reason is that dreaded first term at IIMA but otherwise too, does it really matter...?? I will be as happy for someone like sarath for this year's PGP batch who has started his own venture.
that should pretty much end this discussion.
gtg for another of those group discussions
cheers

Wow..such a cynical reception to ISB and most of it comes from the IIMs. I am surprised to see such juvenile retorts here coming in from the IIM students. Cheers to ISB for going no other bschool in India has gone before.

When IIMA had announced that they had a guy with a 34 Lakh package, twas obvious to every1 or atlst most of us that the guy in ques wld b that Hyd Cop...N we wernt wrong in our guess...
In this batch of ISB, I know (Thru IMS's AdvancEdge) of 1 guy who had arnd 10 yrs of Exp n was amongst the most imp ppl at MicroSoft, India...A very very imp part of the Top Management Grp...Now its understandable that his details havnt been released but v shldnt b surprised if that 1.04 Cr. package has gone to him...Yes, there were ppl with 15 yrs of exp as well but I think this MS guy wld have been that mystery guy...
But its a bit appaling to c IIM guys crying foul out here...Inadvertantly, they r only justifying all those ppl who think that apart frm number crunching, the IIM graduates can do little else n that their EQ levels r as avrg as that of any1 else...Whatevr goes up has to come down someday...N anyway, unlike popular notion, most ppl care a damn 4 these figures...No one needs to tell the avrg puy or 4 that matter any1, as to who the Boss is or other such things...Its not that hard to b a good Sport...

lot of posts here saying work ex should be made compulsory for MBA in india 2..
well speaking for freshers the jobs offered 2 non engg r way2 avg..mainly BPO or direct selling....very few bcom, arts gards get a decent job....go through the job sites and ull see even for the lowest jobs MBA is required...if the recruiters want an MBA wht can the students do........... those who dont want2 get in2 a BPO or direct mkt where do they go?? its only in some places like dilli, cal, chennai where there r college placements 4 non engg studnets ..there also for a seat 500 fight.....1 has2 realise that 1 has2 work according 2 wht is required....
plus itll come2 a suprise2 ull that Harvard has taken in 40 freshers last sem( source IMS) even they feel that they need freshers on campus cos that helps diversity and keeps the spirits up.... even ISB is now looking for intaking freshers....
now abt wht this thread is abt....its gr8 2 see the salary figures of ISB grads.... gr9 work and finally a college competing with the IIM's...atleast salary wise, though salary isnt an imp factor but still it is a major1..........
