Hello,
David Beckham...........is he really worth the money??? He is no Zidane man. I think its time Real add Rio Ferdinand to their showcase. That wud make it Zidane, Beck, Ronaldo, Carlos, Figo, Raul, Hierro and Rio.......... man ..this is mind boggling.

Luv,
Pradeep.

i think ronaldhino will regret moving to barca instead of man u because simply english league is much superiour and also barca does not often qualify for champions league..........

anyway for becham : he is an above average player but not outstanding one.......

well its not always abt whether you qualify or not... most of the good players wanna play most of the time.. rather than sitting on the bench... ronalidinho...if he'd hv gone to Man U.. wud hv rarely got a chance to play... and i dont think he's doing badly at Barcelona.. in fact barca after the arrival of davids.. look a pretty formidable side... but only time can tell..
and regd beckham... know there are many die-hard beckham fans (read chix) out here... but yea he may not be as outstanding as Nedved (?) or Figo or Zidane
but he does his work pretty well!!

but the major attraction this season has been chelsea... lotsa moolah.. and many new players.. heard they are linked with both Nedved and Trezeguet!

Re: World Club Football-The transfer season - 04-03-2004, 12:28 PM

This season's leagues look like they're already decided, except the Champion's League. There, my money is on Real Madrid (as usual )

Anyway, on to the summer transfer window I guess the biggest question is "who's next" on Real's list? Quieroz has come out in the open saying that his prime targets (in descending order) are:
1. Ruud van Nistelrroy (who doesn't want him????)
2. Thierry Henry
3. Michael Owen.

Personally I'd love to see Ruud move to Real with Raul in midfield. With that kind of midfield feeding him and Ronaldo as support, I don't think any team can beat them, simply coz they'd always score more than they conceed (they're close to that level even now). As for Rio and Becks, I'd say both are over-rated. Rio, by virute of the fact that at United he is surrounded by the worst bunch of defenders in the world will always stand out, but if Real really want a great defender, my choice would be Nesta.

About Ronaldinho, well, who cares? He made his choice. He had his reasons and judging by Barca's recent wins over Valencia and Depo, he seems to have reason to claim it was the right chioce. They r on course for a UCL place next season, so I guess that settles it....

Cheers!
Mike

P.S. My fave club rite now as u'd have guessed is Real....all-time AC Milan (Marco van Basten was the gr8est ever)

if u mean to say english football is more skilful than spanish league must say i am stunned other than referees who reach 4 cards for even legal tackles and kill off the game plus purely physical (muscle) football, the english league has very few merits.

the quality of players in the spanish league is undoubtedly much better than in the english league where apart from say the top 4 teams the rest wud struggle to avoid relegation had they been playing in la liga...

it is the only with the recent surge in the number of south amercian players who have started playing in the premier league that the quality of the dribbling and passing has improved to these levels...still they would not reach the levels of quality that most spanish league games reach....

and about Beckham i do not know what more he can do to prove his worth.
He may not have the dribbling skills of Zidane, but he brings to the Real midfield the sanity of purpose and crisp, precision passing(See his last pass to Luis Figo in Real- Celta Vigo) along with 100 percent committment(which the Real team often lacks though loaded with talent).

in fact this is one fact well endorsed by the gr8 maestro Zizou himself who paid the ultimate compliment to Beckham when he said" He does not speak a word of French. But then I can't speak a word of English. But our passes still find each other". that is the kind of vision and knowledge of the game that Beckham brings to Real Madrid.

my two cents on the discussion....
p.s gee, who said b-schoolers have a busy schedule?

regards,
rakesh

I completely second this.....................Real are over confident because of the talent they have.....but boy...... the beauty of football is in ball handling skills with which the South Americans are endowed with..... u see that young man Ronaldinho .......the way he handles the ball is really amzing....I wud love to see such players playing for English Clubs sans the crazy Referees....

cheers....

P.S.: Rakesh ...yeah....now I dont believe that B-Schoolers have hectic schedules....

Well, Any Arsenal fans here??

They are playing some GREAT football at the moment. I'm hoping that this run of form continues for along time. Well all said and done they alomost got the EPL in the bag but must definetly guard against complacency. They showed some signs at the last game V/S Charlton Athletic......Man the no of Chances at Goal and what a finish .......Real Close Shave.

I have a feeling they might go pretty far in the UCL as well. Did you guys chk out Edu's second Goal against Celta........BRILLIANT . And the Henry & Pires Combinations is looking great too .

And talking abt Passing.......My vote for Pass of the Season goes to Dennis Bergkamp's pass to Patrick Viera V/s Chelsea

Wayne

PS: No Prizes for guessing which team I support . BTW, any Arsenal Fans out here, they seem a rarity in India .........almost everyone I know are Man U supporters

Just when I thought I knew all of Life's answers.........They changed all the questions.

hmmm......me a manutd supporter....but then thats been the story ever since the days of lee sharpe, denis irwin and gary pallister....
my favourite ever team is ofcourse the class of 99...the great treble year...tday manu is good but to be honest, i support em more cuz of the past than due to the present....

and although manu is manu and gunners r gunners n the twain shall never meet, i risk brimstone n hellfire in stating that the football arsenal played against charlton in the first half is the closest ive ever come to watching perfect football (quote borrowed frm www.4thegame.com "team of the week" feature)...

having said that, i truly truly hope that manutd can get in some silverware this year....

the refs in england may not be great but then witness the disgraceful penalty given to real in the valencia match n u'll know that officiating the beautiful game can never succumb to lower depths..
John
