Talking Pg Mumbai - Pune Trekkers - 23-01-2006, 10:34 AM

Hmm Starting this new thread as it seems no thread explicitly on trekking exists on PG.
To start off I am from Mumbai and on an average I go for trek atleast once a month.

I am sure many of you will be interested........

so posting upcoming event, whoever wants to join in pm me

Trek to Rajgad-Tornaa
26th Jan and 27th Jan
departure: Thane to Satara Bus on 25 th Jan night
pune people can join in from swargate
Here goes the description
Surely one of the most alluring treks and absolute paragon of high class architecture of chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. It's situated in the sierra of sahyadri and in the juxtapose to Torna, the first fort conquered by shivaji. Rajgad has spell bounded many trekkers with its mammoth size, sky touching height(~4600 ft.) and wide-wide spread.
There are four to five different ways to reach Rajgad, one of the easiest way is via Vajeghar-Pali.
Situated south-west of Pune, this fort commands the Bhuleshwar range. Reaching Pune, one can catch a bus for village Welhe or Vajeghar (1st bus from Swargate at around 8.30 am , about 2 hours journey by bus), get down at Vajeghar. From Vajeghar reach village Pali in about 10-15 minutes. From Pali, a good foot track leads to the top by Pali Darwaja in about 2 1/2 hours.
Rajgad can also be approached from village by Gunjavane Darwaja or Chor Darwaja.

It will be 2 days trek. Stay on Rajgad on 26th and on 27 th We will go toTorna
will be lifetime exp if uhave never been to any of such treks, lemme know

here is the plan
25th Jan Thane –Satara Bus via Katraj 10.30 /11.45
Pick up pun epeople from swargate
Get down at Nasarapur Phata
26th Jan Get jeep to Gunjavane (reach Gunjavane before 7.30 in the morn)
Chor Darvajaa-Padmavati temple 11.00 morn
Lunch : siteseeing and enjoy all day there and night too
27th Jan 5.00 am get up and finish chores till 5.30 am
Start from alu darvajaa to ridge
Reach tornaa by 12.30 and start getting down by 3.00/3.30 to velhe
Catch bus and depart to Pune/Mumbai
If late sleep at the base village –velhe

You can return on 26th itself and reach chordarvajaa-gunjavane- sakhar or pali darvajaa-vajeghar and then pune by jeep........
in fact you can have partener from Pune and many people will come there on 26th Jan
I said many means around 2-3 groups
It will be good trek, bring ur buddies too
