FOOTBALL IS ALL ABOUT MONEY NOW..... | Yes, you made the right move. Stopping the 'discussion' over here would make absolute sense. That would restrain me from starting on my thoughts on the discussion, I guess !
Football to the football watcher may mean artistry, but it is the livelihood to each and every footballer. I guess we should not overlook that point.
No hard feelings, cheers ! Quote:

No.....Honestly thats the answer | We better not speculate on the hypothetical situation. Owen Hargreaves to Munich, anyone ? Not an Italian club, but hey, just goes to show that poaching is rampant even from England.

@evilblood: If you have some points to add, kindly do, personally speaking, there is nothing as bad blood here, if your points are valid, people will agree
Also the example of Wipro and Infy, wont be important to the general public, but here I am talking about personal life, which is the most important to the individual important and his near and dear.
Everyone please dont take the comments in a wrong manner. fire_kris: Wouldnt Italian Clubs have poached English players? (answer honestly)
Evilblood: No.....Honestly thats the answer
And I don't agree to your point that Italians wont do it, they are no moral saints, when clubs like Juve, Milan, Fiorentina can fix matches and Bribe the refs ( which is utmost a club can do), poaching for a young player doesnt seem such a big crime as it would be according to the letter of the law. Kindly try and be rational and logical. Don't stop the discussion let it flow, no point in closing it down with so much left to discuss, especially your point of view, as Rockball and me had discuused but I would like to know your full viewpoint.
Ciao..

Hmmm read this.. I am posting it, but its like adding fuel to fire.. that is fire_kris at your service Petrucci: United Wanted Me More Than Roma Italian propsect Davide Petrucci has confirmed that he has inked a deal that he will see him switch from Roma's academy to that of Manchester United.
AS Roma daily Il Romanista has blasted United for "stealing the youngster", contending that "in three or four years, [Petrucci] will be worth 100 times as much."
Petrucci, however, effectively stated that he made the decision based on his assessment that the English giants seemed to value him more that the Italian capital club, for whom he scored 14 goals in 19 youth team matches last season.
United have reportedly paid £200,000 for the 16-year-old prodigy, who will be offered £95,000 per year, plus all expenses paid for the youngster to fly home to Italy on a regular basis. Not to mention that United went the extra mile by securing employment for the youngster's father.
"Going to play for the strongest club in the world is a great opportunity for me," trumpeted Petrucci.
"It was hard to say no, even though I am a Roma fan and would have gladly stayed with them throughout my career.
"United have offered my father Stefano a job as a gardener and he will accompany me.
"I will go over on June 30 and start in United's academy the next day," he added.
"A month ago Roma offered me a contract on the minimum wage and they did not say how long it was for.
"I asked for a bit of time to consider it, as United's offer had already been made, but they gave me just three days.
"Roma closed the door on my while United opened another. They could have valued me more highly."
Moi two cents:
When the kid's father is unemployed and he will get just 16000 pounds a year, how will they run the family, anyone would go, Roma I think could have given him a maximum wage of 60,000 pounds (according to serie A rules) correct me if I am wrong.
Ciao..
Kris

This is my homage to PG in general and FC in particular as well. And I couldn't find any better place for it than the FC thread. I am no writer, but I felt that I needed to say this before I leave this place.
People come, people go..life keeps moving till it comes full circle. I have been an active contributor, spammer , and student on this thread in the past one year.
I have made many friends through this thread. This thread has been one of the best places for me to visit, in the real or the virtual world. Fighting over club loyalties, discussing new strategies, dissecting club acronym histories, reveling in the passion of the game, and reliving the amazing moments of success irrespective of our loyalties. I will always cherish the time I spent here. Some things that I recall right now:
Entering the room, clicking the refresh button, and watching in horror as 29 pages had been added in the night.
Watching the fight between Krishan and Sumit..a testimony to their good nature as human beings that they're good friends now...and a testimony to the beautiful game as well, that unites us.
Checking the Champions league Final score to find out that we had lost, and coming to this thread to post my congrats to the United fans.
The EPL team of the season contest, and the days we spent discussing the stuff.
Sharing all our successes and failures here. Celebrating the successes and sharing the sorrows. Something I haven't seen anywhere else.
The respect for rival clubs, especially a few times when we have defended rival clubs!!
Praying with Soumitra for a Mia Hamm on this thread , and still praying!
And most of all, making so many great friends, with whom I can converse on first name basis. Another rarity, even on PG!! Sankar, Sumit, Soumitra, Vivek, Vaibhav, Ambujesh, Krishan, Utsav, Mufeed, Himanshu, Deepu; and the others who I haven't had the honour of interacting with more till now.
This might be my last post on PG for quite some time, as I am not sure when I shall next get net access. But be sure, as soon as I can log onto PG, this is the first thread I shall come looking after.
And as I believe in signing off on a happy note rather than a sad one, I'll ponder about this.
I have been told many-a-times that I won't get the time to visit this thread or PG.
Well, maybe I can be Luis Figo, and come back after this self-imposed retirement. Maybe I can even be Henrik Larsson, and come back whenever a major tournament arrives . This is Swagat, the Kukkad man signing off till further news. Seeya later fellas.

Such a nostalgic post by Swagat.
I am not leaving this thread anyways. Footie comes first, ahead of career and studies. Its always been the case with me.
But hey, I'l miss everyone on the thread. Am starting for Delhi today. My session starts 19th. Dunno when I'll be able to scribble here next.
To everyone, thanks for the memories.

I have not been an active person in the posting part on this thread... but have always made sure that this is the first thread I read to find what I have missed...
There will be an exodus as old Puys give way for the new ones to take over the discussions about the beautiful game... this will be the best thread on PG to find not only thoughts about the game but also to see respect to your opponents (teams) and ideas...
This is the thread to fight , to win , to lose , to appreciate , to encourage ... you find this not only because of the people here but also the game which teaches us all this...
People may come and people may go but FOOTBALL lives ......... forever.... | | | | | The Following 6 Users Say Thank You to spicyforsure For This Useful Post: | | | | | |

here comes the sad part. people going on a self imposed exile.
Initially i used pg only to post in this thread. then started my tryst with other threads. i consider this thread revered.
this is the goddamn thread where i made so many friends. this is an ideal place for all those who consider football sacred , considering the level of maturity thats seen on display here (and not taking into account all the tosh that takes place in some of the other forums)
when i first posted here (very excitedly) i was rudely welcomed by a certain ver 2.0 and zak_1984. i seriously considered whether i should continue posting here.
'ignorement' was the best reply , and me continued posting. i dont regret that one bit.
when i look back , this place would be special in many ways. FC thread would always rank very high on my list.
my sincerest appreciations to those who made this thread special , special in their own unique way.
three cheers to all of you! By the grace of God , Born a Devil!
One love , one life , Manchester United!

BBC SPORT | Football | English club-by-club fixtures
Premier League Fixtures are out....
United play Newcastle at home first up...6-0 anyone? and then Pompey away
on 5th Sep, we play Pool away and the following weekend Chelsea away
For the first time in many years, United will play all 3 of their matches against the Big 4 away first up... That smugness of yours really is an attractive quality. Thank you. It was either that or get my hair highlighted. Smugness is easier to maintain.
