ISB 2009 Aspirants

Hi

I have kicked off my GMAT prep with Princeton... Howver if I have doubts in the exercises... where can I look up for their explanations... is there any thread on which these questions have already been discussed.. could you please point me to those

I am in hyd... anybdy willin to join in with me for prep... maybe nt sittin together but an everyday discussion on who's where, doin wat, progress, discussions on doubts... evn if nt oin hyd... discussion on mails/phone can be made... do lemme know if anybdy's interested

Hi All,

I have some basic doubts about GMAT and getting into ISB.

1. What is the best time(may be the latest ) to give GMAT if I need to apply for the first batch of admissions for ISB 2009-2010?

2. If I take my GMAT on Aug 1st week, can I apply for the first batch in ISB, provided I have the required credentials?

3. Do I need to have a GMAT score ready before applying to ISB or can I give my GMAT even after filling in my application form online?

4. Does the admission essays come along with the online application form and how many days we will get to complete this essays once the application process starts?

5. What is this concept of two batch of admissions? I heard if we apply for 1st batch the chances of getting in are more. Could anyone make this more clear?

6. When do we need to submit the recommendation letters and stuff?

Sorry for troubling all with these silly doubts of mine. I will be really thankful if some one could help me out with the answers.

1) Aug 15th-31st
2) Yes
3) Yes you need to have a gmat score ready
4) Yes, you get as many days as you can allocate from the day the application site opens in june till the last date of application for your round.
5) ISB has two rounds of intake one ending sep 15 and other ending nov 15 , the statistically difference between the two is generally not shared by the adcom, but many ISBians believe both the rounds have equal applicants, equal number of offers and equal weightage. That said I strongly believe that apping in R1 helps.
6) Along with the application , before the application deadline.

work on your gmat and application, you should be able to get an interview call if you do a good job in both.

Important Announcement!!!

If one of you PGs can take the pain and collate a list of 40-50 ISB 2009 aspirants from in and around hyderabad , and pm me after the list is prepared, I will arrange for an info session at ISB campus for the 50 folks in the list. The same will be held sometime June if I get a list before say May 25th.

There are two sections in the GMAT one is Maths and the other one is verbal.

Maths

1. Aptitude - You can first go thru the IMS Basic reference Material . If you have prepared already for cat I hope you need not to spend more time in Maths . Apart this you can start with OG 10/ 11. If you more tough problem then go for Kapalan material.

2. Data Sufficieny and Data Interpretation -- The same as said as above for aptitude


Coming to Verbal Section

1 Sentence Correction - Manhatten SC book is the wonderfu book to kick of your SC prepration . After this you can move to OG and Kaplan Material.

2 Critical Reasoning and Reading Comprehension --- OG 11/10 , Kaplan premier program, Kaplan 800

1 - Official Guide 10/11-- You can down load from net
2. Kaplan premier program
3- Kaplan GMAT 800
4 - GMAT Power Prepration Software- Down load from net
5. Manhatten SC - down laod from net
6. SCore Top- Download from net.
