Guys ,

I have gone through the manhattan for SC and then solve the OG13 question and found that the topic Modifier is still need to be improved , i have again gone through the manhattan but still no improvement of topics Modifier........Can u pls suggest and help from where should i improve this topic.

1 - ability of is incorrect, ability to is more apt....2- "also" can never be used to join to independent clause, and is apt....3 - ability to altogether can be removed to

You should plan to devote close to 3 months.  However, note that the application deadlines of business schools for the course starting next Aug-Sep are in Nov-Jan.  So, if you want to apply this year and join the MBA program the next year, you need to really hurry.

Hi, I guess that's because GMAT follows American English which differs slightly from British English. For Eg : GMAT considers use of " Such as" the only valid connector to introduce examples whereas in British English, "like" can b used

Birds overcome by pollution and routinely falling from the sky above Los Angeles freeways were/was prompting officials in California to devise a plan to reduce the incident- ......


Answer says it should be was. I don know why.Please explain and if possible give me similar examples.

Birds-------routinely falling from the sky----------was prompting officials in California-------.

What prompted the officials to devise a plan? The incidence of birds routinely falling. Here the subject is singular phrase 'routinely falling', not the plural noun 'Birds'. Therefore, verb has to be singular 'was'.

Eg : Having good friends is a wonderful thing ( Note the usage of singular verb 'Is' instead of plural 'Are' as the subject is singular phrase 'Having good friends' and not the plural noun 'friends'

This is a Verb Modifier issue. In this case the present participle falling is being modified.  The "falling" of birds is compelling the officials to take preventive measures. Try avoiding the dependent clause "above los angeles freeways," it'll make the usage of was clear.
