first of all, to remove your apprehension, oil reserves are to stay for more time than estimated by u..

secondly, placement opportunities are very good provided you r willing to work hard to grab those opportunities..
Fee structure is clearly mentioned on the website. u can browse thru the website.. its very good n lots of your queries can be solved...
link is School of Petroleum Management

Campus life is simply awesome with super cool infra, ever-open and resourceful library, friendly n gud faculty...
u will surely enjoy the campus life....:-o

Hehehe. If that's be the case then the world will cease to exist. And then my friend, you won't need a JOB, your first priority would be to survive.
Jokes apart, SPM has revised its course and included enough subjects to cover the Energy and Infrastructure domain as well. Now the course not only offers the Oil and Gas sector, but also the E & I as well. So son't worry about the future.

Well the expected cut-offs would definitely rise this time, I am sure, but an 80%ile would fetch you a call for the GDPIs I guess. But again, it all depends upon the applicants as well. So just Bell the CAT, and apply. I am sure you'll get a call then

Admission is thru only CAT. cut-offs around 65 %ile this year for GD-PI call and around 85 %ile for final call.

Along with general MBA subjects, you'll get to study the technical part of the Petro technology, only basics. but they'll include Managerial implications giving u an edge over other MBA's..

Mostly PSU's come for placements.. Private companies too come like Cairn Energy, Adani welspun, E and Y, Jindal drilling etc.

Being an chemical engineer will surely be of help to you...

Hope this helps you.....

Hi Abhadani.
Well for the MBA 10-12 programme, the total college fee comes to around 6.3 lacs for the 2 years. Including the hostel and mess facility(which is compulsary as it is a residential course), the total fee comes to around7.51 lacs, which is very reasonable as compared to other good B-schools. also, trust me, it is worth investing such a huge amount in here as the facilities as far better than many B-Schools.

ok thanks for that cut off detail... could you please elaborate on the general nature of the gd/pi.. i.e the difficulty level etc.
Thanks

GDs are normal... Mostly current affair topics are given for discussion...
Try and avoid fish-market, which is a general tendency....

In the PIs, they ask about yourself, your graduation background and most importantly, your inclination towards this Energy, Oil and Gas field.. Do proper homework on these fields and u'll surely crack the interview...

Whoaaaa. So many questions!!!! :-o:-o

1.) The course is designed in such a way, that not only the general management aspects are covered, but, the energy, infrastructure, oil and gas structures are covered too as well. Let me give you an example. "Marketing Management" is a subject offered in the First Year of the programme, which covers the aspects of general marketing concepts. "Marketing of Petroleum Oil and Lubricants" and "City Gas Distribution Business"are subjects from the Final Year, which looks into the depths of the oil and gas domain. And these are just some of the many electives we are offered here. Its all in your hands if you want to opt for the Power sector, or the Oil & Gas sector, or a mix of everything.
2.) For the recruiting companies, please follow this link:-
School of Petroleum Management
This year, as the course is revised, we are expecting A LOT MANY companies coming up for placements, and hence placements will be better than ever before.:clap::cheerio:
3.) Dude, I am a Chemical Engineer as well!! It will definitely help, but not the way people think it'd. See, during placements, there are some companies which prefer people with a little technical background in some specific sector. Also, since this field is directly related to the petrochemical and industry, the prospect for a chemical engineer is bright. I'd say a perfect platform for all the ENGINEERS(Especially Chemical)

and to add to all this, please be prepared with your graduation subjects as well, IF THEY ARE RELEVANT TO THIS FIELD.
aur waise bhi tum log bina padhe to aaoge nahi

Group discussions topics would be of EASY to MODERATE level of difficulty. There'll be enough time given to speak. So don't worry about the gd. And I think PI query has already been answered by Aditya. Still if any specific doubt, please feel free to ask.

Hi all,

let me introduce myself first, I am kishlaya misra PGP 10 batch student at SPM-PDPU. I have around 3.5 years of experience in IT field (Cognizant Technology Solutions).

to clear doubt about oil reserves as Aditya said SPM is a MBA college focussed on Energy sector of which oil and gas forms a part. Our past academic curriculum was oil and gas dominated but now its the energy sector and to all those who shall join SPM hence forth will be in one of the fastest and the most essential sector driving India's economy -Energy sector.

There is abundant of technological human resources in Energy sector and as we grow and wish to achieve a sustained growth rate of India's economy of 10%, this sector which was neglected till now, have attained most importance and there will be consistent need of managers in this field.

When there is a dearth of supply and excess demand of any thing, the resources become very precious, same applies to Managers in Energy sectors. There are going to be trillion dollar investment in energy sector in coming 5 years in India alone. This will set the ball rollling for India's Energy sector.

As far as campus, faculty and placements are concerned be rest assured all the things are commensurate to an established brand like college.(will discuss in detail about this in my next post)Would share the demographics of our batch-

  1. 90% of the batch are of engineers (chemical, civil, mechanical, electrical, electronics, computer science, information technology, instrumentation and control)
  2. out of 60, 30+ people have experience more than 2 years
  3. out of 60, 40% are freshers
  4. the work experience is very diversified and all the sectors are represented like IT,Steel,Oil refinery,Indian Navy, Merchant Navy, Steel, Sales, Power, Manufacturing. and all the guys/gals have worked with the pioneer companies of their respective sectors.

So just chill, prepare for CAT, bell the CAT....best wishes

Kishlaya Misra
