IIMC 2007-09

Hi sidhesh,

Thanks for the quick initiative.

here is the first salvo

1. Is there any preparatory program ala A
2. if so when it starts?
3. when will the proper course starts?
4. There is accomodation available for married students (as per IIMC website), what are the facilities for this accomodation?

Hi,

Can you tell us the lateral slots (in terms of work-ex months) at IIM C

I think there is a slot for 10 months work-ex? any other slots?

Asking this because I have 20 months work-ex as of now and plan to make it 21 months by the time I leave.

btw, I have both PGDM & PGDCM, taking PGDM

Thanks for starting the thread Siddhesh

I have both PGDM and PGDCM converts
Please give some inputs on what to choose

Siddhesh wont be able to take queries today. So i shall fill in :)

Hi sidhesh,

Thanks for the quick initiative.

here is the first salvo

1. Is there any preparatory program ala A ---No, there is not
2. if so when it starts? ---- Not applicable
3. when will the proper course starts? ---June 26th Should be your first day. You will have to be on campus by June 22nd Max
4. There is accomodation available for married students (as per IIMC website), what are the facilities for this accomodation?
-- Yes, there is. But its a separate hostel.

Hi,

Can you tell us the lateral slots (in terms of work-ex months) at IIM C

I think there is a slot for 10 months work-ex? any other slots? -- The college specifies it as 10 months. If a company feels it requires more work experience, and/or more relevant work ex, it might ask for it.

Asking this because I have 20 months work-ex as of now and plan to make it 21 months by the time I leave.

btw, I have both PGDM & PGDCM, taking PGDM

The Dm/DCM issue is better resolved by personally speaking to people from both courses

hey guys

congos to all selected

well as of now there is no preparatory course and there was none last year as well (and i don't think it was required as seniors helped us a lot and there were a lot of extra classes during the evening that'll help)

well registeration dates as of now are 18-20 june

for laterals u need 10 months work-ex to qualify. so junta of 2007 batch, try to make sure you complete your 10 months before resigning

and now between pgdm and pgdcm, i think both courses are equally good and there is no difference in terms of placements

well best of luck again and cheers

HI,
I have got thru to PGDCM course. Am a comps Grad with 2 yrs Infy exp. I hoped to do my internship at a football club, and looking to do a football industry MBA after 2 yrs....Will all this be possible in the PGDCM course... it seems a computer intensive course.

i'm in final year engg. i had back papers for which i will be appearing in this sem. so i will be completing my degree requirements by may 2008 itself. but the result for these back papers will come in oct-nov 2008 (only result for 8th sem comes early). so, by 31st dec 2008, i wud have my provisional degree, and all my original marksheets, except, for that particular back paper, i wud only have the provisional marksheet issued by the college (original i wud get only in march 2009). so its just for this 1 subject that i wud have a provisional marksheet instead of the original. am i eligible for admission ?

I am a ST category and i did not clear even the PGDCM course for which there was only one candidate (me) from Bangalore in my category.

Total candidates called: 41
Seats around: 30 (if 400 are total seats)

My percentile is enough to clear IIMB in general category

IIMC has 40% weightage for CAT Score.

Final Result: Not even waitlisted for PGDM and PGDCM course.

Seniors-----I am sure from the bottom of my heart that they are leaving the seats empty :(:(

As per our year, the requirement was to ensure that you have completed all your exams before the joining date at IIM C. The results could be shown as and when they came in. The last date to submit your original Mark List and Deg Certificate was Dec 31st of that year (which was shifted by 2 months for some students in exceptional circumstances).

The same should be the case this year as well. However, try and push for your degree certificate the moment you get all your results, so that you can be in a comfortable situation. Get whatever provisional certificates that you can get.

PGDM Vs PGDCM - Refer to old posts on the GD PI Thread. You would find information there. In short - shut your eyes and randomly pick one, it makes no difference with respect to placements.

Congrats to all who made it 😃 Enjoy yourselves!

Hi.

First of all commiserations on the result. I really pray that you do make into a college aside of IIMC of your choice.

But, at this juncture, neither me nor you are qualified to comment on the admission status of any category student at IIM Calcutta. So, its my request to you to exercise restraint.

Regards,
Sunil

Puys im in a real dilemma to decide if i shud join B or C... i know we cant compare bschools here...
but can any one jus pm me abt the credits of both the institute so i can make a more informed decision....

Regarding Waitlisters at IIM Calcutta:

They do not declare WL numbers at IIMC. You will be intimated on the specified date about your waitlist movement.

In fact, the last two years didnt even see a declaration of the presence of a waitlist. People were called up and asked to join. I think this has happened because of the large number of common calls between A and C.

I also made it to IIM-C
My question is what is the amount of fee and do what is the amount of fee we have to pay in advance and when do we have to pay the advance fee... Would also appreciate any info about the bank loans.. Thanks

I got both C & A - Can't decide which one... But want to go to C! Help, anyone????

Also, I want to specialise in Finance - does the specialisation depend on my choice or is it selected for me????

What are total no of seats for PGDM this year, category wise? I've been waitlisted in gen category. I called them up, they said 7% of seats have been waitlisted. I dont know if it is good news for me.

Hi Everyone

I have converted my C call and have been offered admission to PGDM. I have a question, might seem a bit silly, and I apologize for that, but would be really grateful if someone answered.

Is a laptop essential for the course? Or would a desktop do?
If a laptop is essential, what is the minimum config. requirements?

Cheers to all who converted C calls.

Hi,
I have converted PGDCM. I wanted to know whether the PGDCM are eligible for all placements or some companies are strict about the PGDM requirement.
