Congratulations everyone for getting through the final hurdle....and welcome to the IIM L family...
As Mike has already mentioned, your session will probably start in June end or July first week but people with non science background will be starting 2 weeks earlier...as they will have some gyan sessions...but again this is all how it happened last year...so don't take it for granted...
So guys enjoy and have fun till then....

Can the seniors here please answer the following queries ... It would be of great help.
1. What are the univs with which IIML has an exchange program?
2. Is the academic pressure too high? Coz I have heard that it is called IIM HE(l)L due to its high academic pressure which is more than B or C (this is what I have heard) so much so that a few students commit suicide every year (one case was widely reported last year).
2(b). How much sleep should we expect every day?
3. I also want to know about the international placements and about placements in finance (my interest) and consulting. Because I have heard that L is better for marketing.
4. How is the temperature of Lucknow (me from South). I have also heard that IIML is in a place far far off from the main city of Lucknow. So, is there no chance of freaking out during weak-ends for a movie or some shopping or Ornithology 😉 ?
5. Are there freshers parties in every city like A/B/C have? If yes, when is the Chennai one?
6. Finally, (the least important question) how is the food? I am no food freak, but I would like to have decent grub.

1. This yr around 40 ppl are going on Student Exchange to univ like ESCP-France,CBS,MacMaster,UJM Leyon, EBS and some more....i dont remember the names of the univ as they r not too easy to remember
2. whoa!!!!!!!!! where did u hear that from dude?????? let me clarify....NO.... ppl dont commit suicide evry year......the case reported last yr was one off and first in the history of IIML...........and that suicide was not due to academic rigour(the person was among toppers) and the reasons cud never been ascertained.......hope this clears the air and there is no misconception regarding this issue....
see, i cant comment abt B vs C vs L, but every decent b-skool is damn rigorous and it depends on the person how he manages the load.....every1 gets used to it after term1....y not u just wait for a few weeks and have a first hand experience
3. There were 13 int offers during finals and couple of them during summers too......we had HSBC I bank(PPO), J P Morgan london(for summers), E&Y;,Citibank etc etc for fin.....
4. well IIML is on the outskirts of the city but u can always escape the campus via campus buses, bikes etc......ya temp is high as expected in the north....but u can always chill in the classrooms and the Library
..accha hai, padai bhi kar lena 5. ya dont worry
, freshers party is held in every metro....dates will be decided and u will be intimated in due course of time 6.well, with my due respect to Mike's preferences, i will say the food is ok, if not gud....it depends on person to person(wait till u hear Mike's version
)......u will have north indian and south indian to choose from on daily basis.......cheers

The rems are compulsory for everyone with a non-engineering background. it covers maths and basic computer skills.
the maths part covers everything from probability to calculus and vector theory.
as far as the computer part goes, they cover just MSOffice and a bit of Visual Basic (for some reason, they think that that us non-engineers are computer illiterate

another thing.....anyone(engineers included) can come to join this course....this is the best time to be on campus as u will have nothing to do and just make friends:wink: and enjoy to the hilt

And also which specialisation is IIML well-known for (coz I have heard of marketing)?
Also, what is the fresher to work-ex ratio and which are the mass recruiters at IIM L for summers as well as finals?
What are the day zero jobs and internships and can people without the IIT/CA tag aim for those?
And on a lighter note, what is the female-to-male ratio 😉 ?
