What are my chances ?

Last year's admission details:
http://insideiim.com/final-admit-what-it-took-to-get-into-iim-indore-class-of-2014/
Note: Minimum scores shown were not scored by the same candidate. It is likely that a low score in one parameter was offset by high scores in others.

The admission criteria has changed considerably this year, so no conclusions should be drawn on the basis of last year's data.
Though not explicitly mentioned in the notification, the Mumbai campus will have the same shortlisting criteria as the main campus:

35% weight to 10th marks, 35% weight to 12th marks and 30% weight to Graduation marks.

Marks will be normalized across boards and streams.
@shis0821 Since admission criteria has changed considerably this year, it's nearly impossible to evaluate a candidate's chances. Normalization will also play a big part. If you believe that your 10th, 12th and grad scores are good ,you stand a good chance of getting a call.
@pradyothcjohn Thank you for the insight!!

Hi...are the placemnts via iim ind nly or different...also wat is the avg pakage lyk?

@pradyothcjohn So, you mean to say that my chances are bleak !! Right ? Owing to my low acad scores........
Hi @pradyothcjohn

What I understand is that an Indian national if considers to apply thru GMAT score has to pay $250(=INR13000) whereas if applying thru CAT score has to pay only Rs 1000.

I cannot understand the rational behind this wide gap in the fee for both the channels.

The fee in Dollar can be accounted for if the applicant is of non -Indian origin but in case of applicant being Indian, shouldn't there be a parity in the application fee for applying thru both the channels viz CAT and GMAT.

Moreover, the fee for taking the GMAT alone is $250 and top of that if an Indian candidate decides to apply with GMAT score then to shell out another $250 is very excruciating.

Can you please address this matter and also bring it to the notice of the concerned authority ?

@pradyothcjohn :C an u tell me about the placement process for this campus??
@pradyothcjohn I had 1 backlog in my first semester and second semester of Engg...So what i need to do in the form its very confusing..pls help

so in number of attempts do i have to write 2??bcz i had only 1 subject backlog not the whole?so what m i supposed to write in that

It is not about being an indian national or an nri or any other national
these are general standards, most university form fee for applicants applying through GMAT is $250 and simmilarly for CAT its 1000

No, i just mean that i don't know! How does your scores compare with the scores of others who studied with/ others from the same university? If you think that your scores are good by university standards, you should apply.. because your scores will be normalized using the university mean and standard deviation.

Did you clear both the back logs on your second attempt? If you did, you should write '2 attempts' for no. of attempts at clearing 1st year.

Our course started late, so the summer placements have just begun.. as of now around 10 companies have confirmed presence(including 2 public sector banks,a private sector bank,a german chemical giant and an exchange) with more in the pipeline..(at least 10-15). For a batch of 33, that is a pretty good number. Most of the big companies have all closed their summer recruitment, but they've said that they'll be participating in the final placements. Will have to see whether that comes to pass or not. IIM I does not provide placement assistance officially, but we are leveraging faculty contacts for summers.Final placements would give a better idea about placements, as we'll be starting at the same time as the other IIMs. We are hopeful that final placements will be good, as we have very, VERY good students in our batch, as well as a very capable and hardworking placement committee.

@Nakul_ We are the first batch, final placements will begin only in the 5th term.

I understand your sentiments, but i don't think anything can be done about it. My friends over here who got in through GMAT tell me that a $250 fee is almost standard across all institutes accepting GMAT scores.
@pradyothcjohn : I agree...but my point is: is there any guy studying with you in the mumbai campus who has had a similar track record and score like me ? Ofcourse, no one can predict exactly who will fetch a call(few brilliant profiles and scores excluded)...and 1 more thing, regarding placements: do you have to go the parent campus to get placed or companies come in the mumbai campus only ?

The criteria was different last year, CAT scores were also considered (30% weight for sec2 and 20% weight for sec1). Therefore last year's data cannot be used to draw any conclusions. Your 10th and grad scores are good, might make up for your 12th score.
If it helps, i had 91.4 in 10th, 94.25 in 12th( ICSE and ISC) and 65.4 for graduation.(Btech,CUSAT)

No, why would we do that? We are in MUMBAI 😁 companies come here/ we go to them(a viable option since our batch is very small; shortlisted candidates can go to the offices for their interviews)
@pradyothcjohn : since IIM I doesnt help with the placement process what procudere is being followed ? And could you give an idea of the avg packgs being offered and please do give a realistic and virtuous reply
