Hi seniors,
I am a mechanical engg graduate with 15 months of IT exp till date.
My acads are

X- 86.5 % (A.P board)
XII - 95.1 % (A.P board)
Graduation - 75.46 %
work exp - 15 months in IT

i am enthusiastic about working in industrial sector as a manager .. will there be any disadvantage for me in NITIE during placements because of my IT experience (though i am from mech background)

hi varun

this time the notification says "admission is based on GD/PI with appropriate weightage to cat score".
so will their be weightage given to cat score till the very end or is the language of the notification same every year ??
@sandeep.crazy Hello Sandeep,

Every company comes with some shortlisting criteria which changes from year to year. And this criteria is same for all the campuses that particular company visits. So you could never predict your chances to get the shortlists.

About the kind of role that you are looking forward to, you will get ample opportunities to crack the best of the companies. All the best :)
@acat2011 The CAT score is just used for giving out the calls. Final conversion will be purely based on your performance on the D Day (GD/PI). Cheers

Here comes NITIE with a fair chance to every shortlisted candidates...!!!

@sandeep.crazy Hello ,
15 months of IT exp is not a problem at all. Being a mech graduate you have fairly high chances of landing up in such a role.
And @magicalharsh
is right in saying that criteria are highly unpredictable. But don't worry ,just 15 month will not pose any problem in placement

it is the general language of the notification. As stated above, CAT score is only for giving calls. Then final admit is only on GD PI performance.

Can MSc Biotechnology students apply for NITIE?

I am afraid that MSc biotech is not eligible to apply.

I am a graduate from NIFT. My degree is BF Tech i.e. Bachelor in Fashion Technology. Generally people from my stream are employed in garment factories involving loads of application of IE and Ergonomics. We had also studied IE, Ergo etc...

I don't know if I am eligible or not because my degree is not B Tech.

Kindly help!!
@amit4851 Students from NIFT are eligible for an admission to NITIE. We are happy to say that we have one student from NIFT in the batch of 2014.
@sagarragas Thanks a lot!!
@sagarragas : Any other 4 year degree apart from engg. are eligible or not?

can someone tell wat were d last yr cutoffs for gd/pi calls?

Bachelor of Fashion Technology ( course run by NIFT ) is the course apart from Engineering eligible to apply. Unfortunately, M.Sc Engg. or any other similar degree holders are not eligible.

However, to avoid any confusion, suggest you to post the name of degree and then we can assist you better about the eligibility.

For PGDIM - 97 overall with 90 sectional
For PGDITM - 96 overall with 90 sectional
For PGDISEM - Around 90 overall with sectionals approximately 85

Please see there is no official declaration of cutoffs. Above cutoffs are what we have arrived at after observing all the calls that were given!
@visionIIM-ACL Hi Varun,
Hope you are doing gr8!
Just one question.... I just wanna know does nitie takes into consideration both the 1st n 2nd preference for the preferred streams (pgdim/pgditm/pdgsem) or only the 1st pref is considered while calling candidates for the gd/pi?
