PGDIM 17 ( 2010-12 Batch )

Hi Varun,

I have some very specific queries. Please try and help me out with these -

1. What is the course fee inclusive of everything? I have found out that it's approximately 6 lakhs inclusive of everything (except of course my pocket money). Please verify.

2. What was last year's cut-off? Any sectionals? Did they take into account past acads and how much importance was given to work-ex?
My acads are something like this -
10th - 80.16
12th - 80.16
Engg - 7.44 (CGPA)
Work Ex - 24 months (as of August 2011)

3. There must have been a waitlist. Do you have any idea about any kind of waitlist movement? How far did it go last year?

Thanks in advance

Hi Varun,

1. What is the course fee inclusive of everything? I have found out that it's approximately 6 lakhs inclusive of everything (except of course my pocket money). Please verify.

2 year fees for class of 2013 is around Rs. 5,06,500 approximately which includes your hostel fee for 2 years as well. Exact fee for 2012-14 batch shall be communicated to you with the offer letter. It might get revised slightly though in lieu to the new infrastructure which shall be up from upcoming academic session.

Apart from above, you need to pay the mess expenses, which currently stands at Rs.82 per day ( 4 meals ).

2. What was last year's cut-off? Any sectionals? Did they take into account past acads and how much importance was given to work-ex?

Last year's ( 2011-13 ) cutoff for PGDIM general was around 97.5 percentile.

For 2010-12 batch, cut off was 98.26 percentile.

Past trends show that cutoff has always hovered around 98-98.5 percentile, last year being the exception. So, to be on safer side, try to get atleast 98+. πŸ˜ƒ

Sectionals are very minimal and one doesn't need to worry about them. Just focus on the overall score ! πŸ˜ƒ

Acads and work ex have no role in GDPI calls for PGDIM and PGDITM. Profiles might have some weightage for PGDISEM.

3. There must have been a waitlist. Do you have any idea about any kind of waitlist movement? How far did it go last year?

Waitlist movement for General category in PGDIM was around 145.

There was very minimal movement for PGDITM & PGDISEM.

Feels nostalgic to see the NITIE Admissions thread being put up. Seems just like yesterday when I was on the opposite side of the fence eagerly waiting for my chance .

Fire away all your queries people. I'm sure the guys from Team Impact would do a wonderful job at answering them, as always.

@Varun - Pardon the trespass & the spam πŸ˜ƒ

Thank You Sir...
I know we need to get atleast 98 percentile but still is there any chance that ppl may get call on 95-97 percentile and get selected ?
are loan easily available ?
one more stupid question..
PGDIM,PGDITM,PGDISEM stands for??Which one is better option??
Thanks

Can we apply to both PGDIM and PGDITM using the same application form?
How will gdpi calls be given out if v have selected both?

1. Difficult to predict at this stage. Depends on scores of people who have applied to NITIE. Also, cutoff varies from course to course.

2. Yes, loans are easily available.

3. A brief snapshot of courses is as :
PGDIM
Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Management , flagship course of NITIE... you can select electives as per your interest in finance, marketing , operations and supply chain management and go ahead with the career in that field.

PGDITM
Post Graduate Diploma in Information Technology Management, niche course for people who wish to specialize in IT

PGDISEM
Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Safety and Environmental Management, a niche course for people willing to build career in this domain.

Can we apply to both PGDIM and PGDITM using the same application form?

Yes, you can. You have to fill the preferences for the courses. However, please note that calls are generally given for the course which is at your preference 1.

My background is as follows:
10th- 90.3% (tamilnadu matric)
12th- 91.8% (tamilnadu state board)
grad(BE)- 83.0% till date (computer science discipline)
I'm a fresher.
How many freshers are there in the current batch of PGDIM? Do i stand a chance to clear gdpi?

Please do not post acads and ask the chances of getting the call. NITIE gives calls purely on the basis of CAT Score.

As far as freshers are concerned, we do have around 20%-30% of the batch every year with 0-12 months of work experience.

i want to know the cutoff for obc (ncl) student last year.

And i am a fresher..do i have a chance?

Approximate Cut offs for OBC-NC stand around 90 - 92 percentile and for SC/ST, it might go down by around 10-12 percentile further depending on the scores of people from respective categories.

For general, cut off stood hovers around 98-98.5 percentile with last year being exception where cut off was around 97.5 percentile.

Since every batch has a very good blend of freshers and work ex people as per the industry demands, irrespective of the fact that you are a fresher, you do stand a very good chance of making it through.

@ All

No more posts with scores of 10, 12 and B.Tech posted and asking the chances of getting the calls shall be entertained.

We do not think that we need to explain the meaning of " GDPI Calls are purely based on CAT Scores".

hello..

i wanted to confirm this...
First we need to fill the form online and then take a print out of the sbi challan...
secondly, we need to go to sbi and pay the amount and post the challan...
is this the only procedure...??
can't we pay via debit or credit card?

Hi

Till last year the procedure used to be like the one you have posted.

Relevant teams have been working on making the online payment mode available from this session. Kindly wait till 11 October for detailed and updated procedure to apply.

Cheers!

Hi Varun,

Does NITIE offer international exchange programs? If yes, then please mention those foreign universities also, with which NITIE has partnership.
How effective are these programs?

Hi

As of now, we are not offering any international exchange programs.

Work is being done in this direction by the authorities and once things are finalized at administrative level, we shall update you. Though, it may take sometime.

Wishing to see brighter minds in the 2014 batch! Best of luck to everyone :)
Dont worry about getting calls now. Prepare well for your CAT. Wishing u all the luck πŸ˜ƒ

Varun/Ryan ,

For class of 2012, it was around 97.5 and for class of 2013, it was around 96.5.

Hope this helps!

@Satya

To add to what Varun said, the cutoffs were around 97.5 and 96.5 for the PGDITM batches of 2012 & 2013 respectively.

Both PGDIM & PGDITM cutoffs were slightly less last year due to the significant reduction in the number of CAT takers.
