hi ppl.
am just back from my GD/PI..my session is 17th april 2pm..reached BIM an hour earlier.we had to sign an attendance sheet at a lecture hall which was converted to waiting hall. the originals were verified. a consolidated marksheet is preferable. and then we had to wait for our chances at GD or PI which was gng simutaneously. the GD was conducted in another lecture hall nearby. there were two panels for PI. Mine(panel-II) had three panelists.one i recognised as the director of BIM and another a prof.the 3rd panelist was a young lady.i was asked to into myself and why i was gng for mba and nt pursuing career in field of study(comp.sci).and then the director asked my fav subjects and there were 2 technical questions frm tht subject. the other professor asked abt the intro of social audit in PDS in TN( ref: THe Hindu dated 17/04) and another abt a automobile merger ( ref: THe Hindu dated 16/04).overall it was a simple interview.

there were three group discussions.
the topics are:
1. Media and the Mind
2.Unity in diversity is a myth in india
3. Red

By the way did u mention in the form that u read a lot of newspapers and so....this is the reason y the panel asked u questions regarding the current issues...if i were asked these questions,i would be out of the race.

but i did not get any such form till now. and my GDPI is on thursday 22nd at chennai :(
can anyone pls help me out if i can go straight away to the venue with my credentials?

and.. BIM did not mention about this green/yellow form anywhere. i have seen this in PG only. kindly clarify if it is ok to go to venue without the form..

don't worry...u cannot do anything if u dint get the form...just chill out and take the photo copies of all ur certificates.....tell the same in the interview..!1

Brief Snapshot : GD was really smooth. Everyone got an oppportunity to speak.

Interview date: 20/4/2010
Time:2 pm
Venue: IFMR. Chennai

When i reached the center, I was completely soaked in sweat(not used to humid conditions). Afterwards group of 8 students were taken for gd.The topic was 'green'. Had a nice gd and there was lot of inputs from 7 of us. Came up few times with some points.
Then came back to waiting room.When i was asked to come for verification of documents, i was unable to find my file:oops::w00t: Then somebody pointed out the file for me.It was on chair and due to same colour i couldnot recognise it:lookround:
There were 4 panelist for interview.
I had my project on electronic voting machine with fingreprint reader, so was asked about it like its working, how it can be improved , what will be operational difficulties... etc. NOW comes the worse part:banghead:
I was asked about
Chief election commissioner- couldnt reply
number of election commissioner in india- blank
then was asked about fav subject- microcontroller, next fav- special relativity, next fav- power systems( i dont know if i hadnt replied this how many more times they would have asked)
Who is power minister- dunno
names of thermal power station- NTPC: said its a company.
tell about places- gave two place
they asked tell more - dunno
asked about atomic plants- tarapur, 2nd nearby only name starting with k..(forgot the name)
tell about company that manufacture power components- gave two, was asked more - didnt knew
Was asked about ABB- blank
full form of ABB- blank
tell headlines of todays newspaper- told
Something about external affairs- half replied...
Then they said good reply/ answers : I know they were mocking me
I dont know whether they were taking interview or playing kaun banega crorepati.... :lookround:

Anyways... i m out of race :oops:

Hi Guys,

Note: This is a re-post of wat i already posted in the "BIM Trichy Shortlist" thread.

I have got 3 years of IT work ex at Accenture.
Date: 20-4-10
Place: Chennai
Venue: IFMR, 23.Kothari Road, Nungambakkam.
Batch: 02:00 PM

I reached by 1.20 and I was guided to a waiting hall where the other students were waiting. I signed in a sheet and one by one were called for the certificates verification. They deducted the English marks from the graduation and calculated the percentage and just had a look at the cat score card, work ex certificate and other marksheets.
Immediately after the verification, names were called out. Simultaneously they conducted the GD and PI for different set of ppl. My name was 1st in the Panel1 and we were taken to the GD hall first. The rest were asked to wait for the interview.

GD Process: 8 tags were provided which we have to stick them to our shirts according to our number. I was the 1st in our group. Two members were sitting there to evaluate us.
Topic: GREEN
We were given 2 mins to think about the topic and 16 mins to speak. We were provided a ruled sheet where in we can note down the points in the 1st page. Immediately after the GD, we wre given 5 mins to provide a summary on the discussion and asked to write it down in the 3rd page of the sheet which they provided earlier. They clearly mentioned that the summary should not be something which you think should have been discussed in the GD or your personal views on the topic. It should be the exact summary of what you discussed in the GD and it should not be in the bulleted points.

After the GD we were again asked to wait in the hall. I was called out for Interview in just 15 mis as I was the 1st in my panel. (Panel- 1).
There were 4 panelists. P1, P2, P3, P4. P4 dint ask me anything throughout the interview.
P2 was the Oldest of all and I think he is the senior most faculty member by the way others were referring to him.
P2: Tell me why MBA?
I : Told about my long term goals (setting up my own business and all..) and short term goals..
P2: Are you satisfied with your Job?
I : Yes, very much.
P2: Then why do you want to leave such a good Company and pursue Management course?
I : Its not always that you will do an MBA only if you are not satisfied with your job. I wanted to increase my profile and shift to management side.
P1: Tell me in brief what kind of role you perform at your current job.
I : Told.
P1: When you seriously wanted to do MBA, what made you wait for 3 years? You could have joined immediately after your graduation?
I : Told the reason. Looked a bit convinced.
P2: Tell me something interesting about you apart from what you have mentioned in the form.
I : Told him all stuff
P2: Tell me instances when you were highly acknowledged for your good organizing skills. (As I have mentioned Good organizing skills under strengths in the form.)
I : Told 2 - 3 instances..
P3: Which specialization would you like to choose?
I : Finance.
P3: Do you follow share market?
I : No.
P3: Well, thats fine. Can you tell me what is sensex?
I : Told something..
P2: What is the regulatory body for all the banks in India? Can you tell me any other regulatory bodies such as insurance and all..
I : Told RBI and IRDA..
P1: What are your thoughts on Telangana issue. (As I am from Andhrapradesh. Telangana issue is a demand for a separate state.)
I : I told.. most of it was in very generic sense though
P1: What are the biggest industries in Andhrapradesh.
I : IT, Agriculture, Pharma..
P3: How did you miss the movie industry? (All smiles)
I : Ya.. Its the biggest film maker annually in the whole world . (With a big smile..)
P1: In the agriculture sector, what are the famous crops in A.P?
I : Cotton, Rice, Chillies, etc..
P3: We are done. You may lave. Thank you.
I : Thank you.
The whole interview was for around 15 mins and it was pretty cool. Over all it was a very well organized process. I was out in just 2 hours.

They looked to be pretty satisfied with the answers, lets see , atb puys.

I dont think it will be a problem.Even they didn't ask me work ex cert
