Alright , ill start off then.

1. What is the admission criteria ?
2. What was the cutoff last year ?
3. How are placements for Freshers in Marketing and which companies picked such candidates ?

Hi Amogh,

Good beginning!
Here are the replies

1. What is the admission criteria ?

Minimum 50% at graduation level. if you are in last year, cumulative of the earlier years.

2. What was the cutoff last year ?

Had both overall and sectional.
Overall, minimum 90 percentile.
Sectional: Quant 50 percentile, DI 50 percentile, Verbal 60 percentile.

3. How are placements for Freshers in Marketing and which companies picked such candidates ?

Many companies like Titan, Loreal, Virgin Mobile, Motorola +++ look for freshers as they have a well planned MT programme. All these companies come regularly and recruit.

Best wishes
Deval

Wow!!!
Great to know this thread is up and running already!!!
Was quite a regular last year, but my DI scores ditched me, and my MICA dream was shattered...

My Tagline "MICA or Bust" came true...
Hope to make it to THE Coolest College this year!!!

Welcome back, add to the fire, we need all the right fuel!

Hi Mam,

Gr8 to see this thread...was eagerly waiting for it to start. My question is that should i go ahead and fill the form right away? 'cos i will be giving the GMAT (and the CAT) in December and the scores wud be available then only.

- Ankit

hi,IS MICA all about marketing or communications marketing ?what is the difference between the profiles offered to students between these two ? please enlighten me.

Hi Ankit,

The deadline for filling the forms is 27th January. Invest that money somewhere till then :). Once you get your GMAT/CAT result, fill up. Do this for most institute whose deadline is after CAT so you know how you have performed and then apply.

Cheers

Hi,

MICA is about Communications Management and offers specializations in Brand Management, Advertising Management, Media Management and Marketing Research. A strong base in marketing is essential for any of these.

In a typical Marketing/Brand Management job, other than sales & distribution, supply chain management, pricing, packaging etc, you must also know brand communication, consumer research, media planning etc. That's where MICAn have a strong hold.

MICAns do get in to marketing focussed companies like Titan, Loreal, Motorola, P&G; and look in to entire gamut of marketing activities. The skillsets they bring in set them apart from others.

Hello Mam,

Great to see someone from MICA answering our queries!! I am interested in Media management and wanted to know what companies come to recruit in this category??

Writing Cat for the first and the last time!!:

Hi Adi,

In media companies, there are two types of recruiters. One is the media owners, like satellite channels, radio stations, print - newspapers, magazines etc. They recruit MICAns for Marketing, Brand Management type of functions. The others are the media agencies like Mindshare, Starcom, Madison, Maxus etc who do the difficult work for media planning, buying, strategies for the clients and work closely with the media owners and clients.

CNBC, VIACOM18, NDTV, Hindustan Times, TOI, Radio Mirchi, Jagran Group all of them regularly recruit from MICA. So do all media agencies for planning and strategy functions.

hi deval ma'am,

Sir there's a lot to ask about MICA.

Firstly, The fees for the two year programme as a whole including hostel , mess etc.

Secondly, Is there any chance of I being able to mould my career to commentary. Because commentary is nothing but communications. So can anything of that sort can be brought about?

Thirdly, does Mica accepts previous year's score ? I had a misconception last year that MICA takes 99%ile in Verbal ability :)

Thank you so much .

Corrections in the first line.
'Mam' and not 'sir'.
Apologies at my end 😃

Hi,

CCC, as you know is a six month programme in Crafting Creative Communication - preparing you for a career in copy writing / art direction. For art direction, you do need educational background in fine/applied art.

You can do both CCC and PGPCM, one after the other. A student of mine from 2004 batch had done that.

CCC helps you prepare a portfolio and supports placement efforts. However, there is no active placement cell like that of PGPCM.

Good luck

Hi Amit,

I will start with third question first, for strategic reasons.

MICA takes three years' course for GMAT. Not so for CAT. Verbal was NOT 99 percentile.

Harsha Bhogale did that. He didn't come to MICA though, nor did he use Fair & Lovely, I am sure. For being a commentator, the skill sets required are different. We don't teach that at MICA. I hope I have got your question right!

Fees for the two year programme - including tuition fees, books and reading material, library and internet facilities, hostel acco and mess charges etc for the current batch is Rs.10 lakhs.
