Hi!!!

A sincere request to mods to not to close this thread again. This is focussed on PGPIM final call getters only.

Thanks,
KK

waitlisted - 51
joining or not depends on how my few doubts regarding this course get sorted out and ofcourse on waitlist getting cleared

there is one doubt seniors... der r 45 guys who have confirmed calls... now far as i know seats are arnd 35 (32 last year) so it means effectively der is a built in waiting of 10-12 guys...
so effectively my waiting is arnd 50 + 10 = 60...
last year it cleared upto 78...
but then last year the course wasnt so well known...
also this year guys from much higher percentile have been called and selected...
infact 40 guys from the 45 confirmed calls have either confirmed calls in PGPM or waitlisted in top 100...
out of the first 95 guys in terms of ranks (including confirmed and w/l guys)
there are 63 ppl who have been waitlised or confirmed calls from PGPM under w/l 300 which is the best guess for clearance of waiting for PGPM...even if 10 of dose guys join IM even den 25 seats wud be left with 35 guys to fill dem... (talking about the guys till w/l 60)
based on this analysis it seems quite likely waitlists will be extending beyond 70 - 80 mark...
comments corrections expected and needed...

u dont need to bother about PGPIM as ur in PGPM quite literally...

and besides one thing has been startling me...
der were 278 calls ....
about 20-25 wudnt have appeared...
der r 45 confirmed calls..
and der is a wl of 200..
so 245 guys have been kept on hold...

out of the 250 odd who appeared for GDPI....
sounds a lil strange to me... I dont think its rational although I cant think dat MDI made a mistake by giving such long waitlists but still... I cant think of any plausible reason either...

I guess more or less this will be situation of most of d guys who r in waitlists as cheked almost 80 percent r waitlisted for PGPM so it wud be better if everyone just also mentions wot wud dey choose if both der wl clear....

for instance varun I am sure ul clear both ur lists so which one wud u opt for...
in case u havent decided yet we are to discuss the course and which one to choose if we have a option between PGPM/PGPIM...

by the way my situation is as follows....
have a tuf waitng scenario in both courses but will clear both marginally is my guess...
and I think I wud go for PGPM...
bcz I was reading last years forums on PGPIM call getters and d info dey had collected kinda freaked me out...
no nothing with rong with the course but a helluva lot of work pressure... and den the european placement thing is still lil unclear... although as I raise a doubt on it its also the best piece of the cake bcz if u can work hard and make dat happen ur in heaven...

lets try to figure out thru this forum wot r the standings of this course this year and how have things changed since last year wen der were so many speculations and myths...

we have got atleast coupla very helpful and dedicated seniors out here who r quite frequent on PG and I know dey will help us out make an informed decision so let the discussions bigin....

@ashwini

Though i might be able to convert both the calls, my heart goes out for PGPM but my mind says PGPIM.

The following things emphasize it:

1. PGPM is the flagship course

2. PGPM running for 10-12 yrs

3. PGPIM gives u the International edge/exposure

4. Placements( i wud b foolish to say that i m not concerned) but definitely i m not very impressed by the placment scene of the first batch, but still scope for improvement.

Finally i wud love to join PGPIM but after some more research.

Hope to c ya there.

ok varun i will tell u smthng ud be pleased to know...
d only thing u think better wid IM is international exposure right...
so dat u can get in another way also while having the all d advantages of PGPM...
der is a very nice student exchange system dat mdi has with colleges all over d world and under it, it exchanges students wid many good universities... so even if u join PGPM u stand a chance to undergo a exchange program and study in EACP-EAP itself...
hence d problem of not having int'l exposure in PGPM is hopefully overcome...
I hope this will help u take a more informed decision...
(information from a frend studying in MDI so its reliable although for more info on d same I hope our frends here from MDI will help)

and yeah man definitely will see you in MDI...

Hi Ashwini,

When you say something like : "information is coming from a friend studying in MDI", it has no credibility unless you cite your sources. If your username is not attached to your post, you can imagine your own credibility, forget about others.

And yes, it's true that MDI has international linkages with top B schools around the world, and students from both the PGPM and PGPHRM get an opportunity to apply for the same. But the cross-cultural experience in both the cases is far from comparable.

PGPIM students, when they come to ESCP-EAP, are regular students of the institute, and NOT exchange students. The implications of this "subtle" difference, are not so subtle at all.
