a milkman a 10 ltrs of pure milk, how many ltrs of water have to be added to the milk so that the milkman gets the profit of 150% by selling at cost price. *Please explain using allegations.*
Varun Kumar @vrun

U have to first determine what's the propotion of milk in the mixture to get a profit of 150%....Sp=2.5CP which means CP=0.4 SP....This means you have to sell 40% milk instead of 100% milk...u have 100% on one end and 0% at other...use allegation...u get 2:3...2x=10 x=5;3x=15..

Varun Kumar @vrun

150% profit...Means ur Cost Price has to be brought down to 40% (100% and 0%) use allegations to bring the ratio to 2:3..hence 15 Litres
