I have got 99.91 percentile, a degree in engineering, a decent understanding of Economics. Ideally I wanted a MA in economics from DSE or ISI, but the FPM appears to be a good option. I have no research papers, no publications, low grad percentage from NIT Warangal. So what I wanna know is consid...

but one piece of advice from my side...if u r doing it just to get into IIM A/B/C...then think twice/thrice/hundred times b4 taking a final decision.....u can't opt for a PhD just because u want to get into a college....so check ur inclinations and then make a decision.....

Then give it a try if u really want to do phd.....for fpm admissions u need not have publications...but a decent profile and interest in research...it is not like mba that u have certain percentile so they would prefer u over lower percentilers....but if u r able to articulate and conmmunicate how phd will help u achieve ur long term goals..,u also need to show interest in reseach and broad idea about what u want to do in economics or area of ur choice....

Hi, Can somebody tell me how much fees (tuition+hostel+mess) one has to pay in IIM-A and IIM-C for FPM? In IITs one has to pay on an average 5K/month towards subsidized tuition+hostel+mess fees. So effectively one gets per month 13K ( = 18K - 5K). I want to compare 18K/month stipend of I...

at IIM-A u don't have to pay any fees...initially at the time of joining u will be asked for security deposit which will be returned at the end of 1st year....apart from it if u stay in dorm (bachelor acco), nothing to be paid extra....nothing is deducted from ur stipend....but if u opt for married acco, then every month ur electricity bill amount is deducted from stipend.....for food, at IIM A u need to pay out of ur pocket/stipend, it is not free....so u may consider that at IIM A u will get stipend-food expense-electricity bill(only in case of married acco) in ur hand....

does every premium institute require the letter of recommendation or only some of them ? Please Guide.

vishal jani @vjjani

i think in case of IIM A, u just have to give name of two references which they may be checking in their own way...no need of reference letter for IIM A application...at least it was the case when I applied in 2012.....in other IIMs u need recommendation letters....

What is the difference between FPM and PhDs? FPM is Fellow Program in Management that results in the generation of Fellow as end product whereas PhD is Doctorate of Philosophy that results in Doctor. FPM except IIMs are generally not recognized whereas PhDs are. Eligibility for FPM is graduation...
