  1. How many hrs. of prep. is recommended by GARP for FRM full, and approx idea of no. of hrs required for candidate who cleared CFA L1?

ATLEAST 200-250 HRS...THIS IS NOT LIKE CFA. NO STRAIGHT FORWARD QUESTIONS WILL BE ASKED. MOST OF THEM WILL BE QUITE ANALYTICAL AND INVOLVES A COMBINATION OF 2-3 CONCEPTS.
  1. Is Schweser sufficient....or is there any extra GARP recommended material?

DONT FORGET HAND BOOK...QUITE A FEW QUESTIONS WILL BE ASKED.

Hi,
same here...
i also cleared L1 in june. and now gunning for FRM full. FRM L1 is quite an overlap with CFA L1. so if u want to do FRM L1 it wont be difficult, but if u want to do full then the syllabus is a bit.
But i guess i will be going for it, as anyways will study risk in the next trimester starting october, so may find it easy afetr that.

So when did u start studying for FRM.......lemme know the time frame typically required for one book of FRM.....i just got the Schwesser from.......i heard quant is :banghead:.........
Hey puys....wassup

I know i m a lil late....but i just started thinking bout giving the FRM full exam....i cleared CFA L1 this June.....is the portion between CFA L1/L2 and FRM (full) completely different....or are there chucks of repeat stuff......asking this cos wanted to know if i can cover the portion in 2.5 months.......and is schweser the best source of studying or is there any other......
one more question Mr Ashutosh.......how much do the cut-offs go down in the CAP round IV........tia
hey puys......

one of ma friends gave cet this year....he got 94%ile.......i donno how much marks that converts to......he is SC......what r chances of JB, Sydnm, SIMSR, etc.....

I know the cutoffs for general but now for SC......help me out guys.....

Last year the cutoff for JB was 158 for SC.....but this time the paper being tough n all i donno what would be the scene 4 SC guys this year
I think i had read somewhere on PG that KJS gives a relaxation of 1-2%ile to ppl with work-ex while giving out calls ? Is that true to any extent ?

Or the work-ex counts only in the GD/PI evaluation stage ?

AS WRITTEN IN THE PREVIOUS POST.....THE CUTOFF FOR FRESHERS AND PPL WITH WORKEX IS THE SAME i.e 91%ile.

WORKEX COUNTS ONLY IN THE GD/PI EVAL STAGE....
puys please lets keep the posts focused.......

THE FOLLOWING POINTS WILL BE CONSIDERED WHILE GIVING OUT CALLS FOR GD/PI

  1. The cutoff last year for PGDM and PGDM- IB was 91%ile
  2. Same cutoff for freshers and ppl with workex.
  3. NO sectional cutoffs.
  4. Expect cutoffs to be about 92 - 93 %ile this year.

THE FOLLOWING POINTS ARE CONSIDERED WHILE SELECTING CANDIDATES FOR PDGM AND PGDM - IB

  1. GD AND PI PERFORMANCE
  2. ACADS
  3. CAT SCORE
  4. WORKEX.

THESE POINTS ARE CONSIDERED ONLY AFTER YOU GET A CALL FROM SIMSR.

I HOPE THIS CLEARS UR DOUBTS ABOUT GETTING AND CONVERTING
A CALL FROM SIMSR

IF I HAVE MISSED OUT ANY POINTS PLEASE LEMME KNOW N I WILL ADD THEM TO THIS POST.

Is the hostel fees is Rs 70000 per yr or for two years. and can u please tell for me having the following percetiles and 1.5 yrs of exp what are the chances of converting the call(if i recieve one)
VA - 49.52
QA - 98.29
DI- 99.79
ov - 97.04

The hostel fees of Rs. 70,000 is for one year......
its_i Says
I read the last couple of pages and seniors have said that last year the cut-off for IB was also 91 but in the mandatory disclosure on KJ's site the cut-off given for IB is much less. Is that not correct? Actually I am getting 89 and so I want to know my chances for IB.

The cut-off for both PGDM and IB was same last year during my admission.....91 %ile was the cut-off........but then getting PG or IB depends on ur GD/PI......i.e. we have got a 97%iler ir IB and also a 91%iler in PG....it also depended on ur first prefrence.

Even on the website it is written that the cutoff for IB was 91%ile in 2008....refer Welcome to SIMSR

Hope this helps u guys
