Monty Panesar had plenty of reasons to celebrate on the opening day
Monty Panesar took less than a day to confirm what England had been missing during the opening two Tests as he became the first English spinner to take five wickets at the WACA. Steve Harmison provided impressive support as he finally arrived in the series with only Mike Hussey converting a start into something substantial.

For more details, check out the following link -
Cricinfo - Panesar's five gives England a lifeline

I was unaware of any such incident.. just read on a website. :wow:

This is what happened:
Murali had left his crease to celebrate Kumar Sangakkara's century when keeper Brendon McCullum removed the bails and he was declared run out.

Fleming: "The ball was still alive and the game doesn't stop when a player gets 100, You can't just wander off when the ball's in mid-air and if we'd had an overthrow I'm sure they'd take that. In one sense it's disappointing because it takes the gloss off one of the great hundreds I've seen. But I'm comfortable with it, the game doesn't stop because someone gets a hundred. It's a mistake in judgment from Muralitharan."

McCullum: "After 109 Test matches (Murali's number of appearances) you know better than to walk out of your ground to celebrate a guy's hundred when the ball's still alive. I realise they're pretty upset about it but as far as I'm concerned it was an opportunity to take a wicket. I'd do the same thing again."

Jayawardene: "The whole team is disappointed, Legally it was a run out, the ball was alive but we play in an age where we talk about the spirit of the game. Hopefully it won't happen again. It's not the way to play cricket."

Mahip: "Rules are rules and should be followed at any cosr. Flowing in emotions and forgetting the rules is not going to help at International Level."

as per rules, it's out !

the player like murali who has vast experience in international cricket, he didn't realize not to move out of the crease untill the ball comes to the wicket-keeper or bowler.......n then he cud congratulate sangakkara...........it's shame for murali not to awrae these rules aftr som many years in cricket world...................
What do you think PGs........?

Why England Team Management excluding again n again Monty Panesar & Chris Read....although they both r in form.........n Ashley Giles coming just from injury........n directly playing in Ashes is very damn thing !!!
