Salaries: Restating wht priyabrat said, avg/highest/lowest salaries that you read in newspapers n all are calculated for both BM n PMIR combined. However there isn't any significant difference between the salaries of Bm & PMIR graduate.

Companies recruiting: We get all top companies on campus for CRP like HLL, P&G;, Colgate Palmolive, ITC etc in FMCG sector....CTS, IBM, HP etc in systems....HSBC, Citibank, StanC, ABN Amro etc in banks...E&Y;, Hewitt, Mercer, Hay Grp, Accenture etc in consulting...the list goes on. International firms like McKinsey, BCG, LN Mittal Grp, Olam etc also recruit from XL. This is just an indicative list.

Job Profiles: Profiles for PMIR students range from corporate HR to hardcore IR to HR consulting.

Hope this helps.

Kush

XLRI 2004-2006

More Info: There is no concept of specialization in PMIR course. First year consists of 21 core courses in PM/IR and other functional areas. In 2nd yr students have to pick electives of their choice from a huge list. One can be PM focus or IR focus or go ahead with an equal mix of both. But at the end of the course you will be awarded PG diploma in PMIR without any specialization.

Just to add to wht brat said: though our batch has a high no of ppl with work ex (abt60%), our senior batch has far lesser ppl with work ex....so one cant say if there is a preference for work ex ppl.

hi,

answers to some of ur queries:

dinup,having_identity_crisis,jatinbakshi, dce621, cat_as_trophe - Could you please let me know the kind of interview questions that are asked for the next stage?

The questions can range from anything from your acads to GK to your essay to carrer plans etc. The interviewer can ask pretty much anything under the sun....so dont expect a FAQ list:P.

It is a good idea to brush up your general and business awareness. Freshers should prepare well for acads...you should have reasonable command over atleast 3-4 subjects.

My interview was a bit towards stress... one of interviewer was looking all dissatisfied and irritated with my answers. However, the trick lies in keeping your cool during interview and giving genuine answers.

I suggest not to give "prepared answers" to questions like why MBA, career plans etc...do some soul searching n give honest answers. Trust me, interviewers will know when u bluff.

aravind_rn: Can i tell them i am really interested in finance so that i can take the interview to my strengthness

There is no harm in mentioning abt ur interest in fin but then be prepared for questions on the subject + fin GK.

nitin_n: How many seats are available in GMP?; How much is interaction with BM & PM&IR; ppl?

I'm not sure about the exact number of seats but it is arnd 35-40. XL is a nice small campus so there is a lot of opportunity for interaction with BM and PMIR students...GMP students stay in the same hostel..eat in the same mess etc.

crack_cat_2005: hi is any reservation in xlri for jharkhand resident ??

Not tht i know of.

juranamo: i wud like to know if the percentile matters at this stage!! from wat i've seen so far think i'm the fresher with the least overall percentile to have made it to BM.. Plz lemme know if i'm on par with the rest or not!

You'll get conflicting opinions on this qs ...
acc to me percentile doesn't matter at this stage if you perform well in the interview. I know lots of ppl here who had low XAT percentiles.

Keep the qs. flowing:)

HEY XLRs ,

can you let me know what is the percentage of ppl with work ex in your batch...does XL give a lotta importance to Work ex

Thanks and ATB

Official Data for Batch of 2006 :

BM - 60% with work ex
PMIR - 40% with work ex

However, batch of 2005 had far less no. of ppl with work ex. So as prithvi said, dont bother yourself with the "trends" n all. Just give ur best shot at XAT n wait for interview call. :)

Kush
