Hello Puys,

If you have got an admit from your preferred school or just waiting for one after finishing your app work, and now wondering how to prepare yourself for the academic toil, Use this thread to share your plan and resources..

A good place to begin is an old thread
http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/international-indian-mba-schools-accepting/20839-pre-mba-prep.html

Btw, anybody knows of a good pre-mba internship opportunity in India? They are very difficult and rarely heard of, but if you get one its totally kick-ass..

Hi Shaurya, In my opinion OG 12 would be better as it has a lot of new questions. So, when you are practicing with the latest GMATPrep, questions would not be repeated. Anyway, instead of studying from several books, its better to thoroughly go through an OG, I have found it to be more than sufficient. Kaplan's SC guide is well structured too and it might come handy to boost your sc scores.
Also, for practice i'd suggest GMATPrep (there are two versions on the net, take both), Popwerprep , Princetonreview test series and MGMAT. Warning- stay away from Kaplan tests.
I've followed the above, self studied and have scored 750
Hmmm..mine status still says under verification..when did u submit our app?

11 more days mate ..all the best. make sure u take one practise test with AWA before the actual test. i like ur status "shIT happened" I wonder y people in IT hate IT. look at the stastitics. majority of MBA applicants who make it to the top colleges are from IT. that makes us a privileged breed..."wink wink nudge nudge"

Thanks mate :), I am yet to give a proper full length test with AWA section. Will do so with the second round of GMATPrep tests.

Cheers

The majority of people who make it to top colleges are from IT is probably because a majority of those applying are from IT!!

This is one of the by-products of our education system and societal expectations...
All those who do really well in 10/12th are expected to go into Engineering.. All those who get into Engineering mostly land up in a IT role.. (The last decade and a half has belonged to IT) and these ppl would aspire to be MBAs as well, since they have been successful in academics most of their life..
This results in a majority of applicants having an IT background and since they are good they do get in as well!!!

To summarize.. they got in not because they are from IT, but because they are good!! .. thats the reason they are in IT in the first place!!

Hope I have confused you enough :drinking: :drinking:

If anybody cares to look at the job trend in the last couple of decades, it will be clear why there are so many IT engineers in India. Because of the demand, that's why. Doing SW engineering is still the easiest and safest means of getting a decent job.
That said, the kind of work that is done in service based IT industry in India is not satisfying enough. Good or bad, IT is a great leveler, hence so many ppl wanting to get out. And those who are good, manage to do so.
Hey Nevil ... welcome aboard ... I will be giving the test on 6th June and frankly the pressure hasn't set in yet ... I have heard getting good scores in practice tests is a pressure reliever ... have you tried that ?

Hey,
Yup. Im done with studying and now concentrating on practice tests only. Have given the following tests:
GMATPrep1 -720 Q49 V39
PrincetonR1 -720 Q49 V41
GMATPrep2 -710 Q49 V38
PR2 -710 Q49 V39

Verbal is causing some concern. Im targeting atleast 42 in it. Other practice tests that I'll be taking in coming days - MGMAT (1 free test), GMATPrep (old), PR (3 & 4) ,Knewton (1 free test) , Veritas Prep and if time allows, old PowerPrep as well.

How about you? Given any practice test yet?

Cheers

Hi Puys,
Looks like I'm late in joining the discussions. I am from Noida and giving the GMAT on 19th of may. Thats less than 2 weeks away, and frankly saying, I'm shit scared

Anybody else writing the test in may/june? I would like to hear from all how they are coping with the pressure.

Cheers
