How to reach the campus from the Chennai Airport ?

There is a local railway station just opposite to the Airport ( Walking Distance)..From there you may board a local train (of which service is very good ie. every few minutes) to Nungambakkam Station..The fare is Rs 5..Once you reach Nungambakkam Rly station you may walk to the Institute (10-15 min Walking Distance) or may opt for shared Autos..

PS : I am a fellow aspirant..This is how I reached IFMR when I visited the campus.

I confirmed my admission on dated 3rd may by paying 75k and got a confirmation too.Today I have received an email from IFMR stating :

Dear Student,
We have already confirmed your admission.
You are required to pay the first installment fee of Rs.3,36,000/- on or before May 31, 2012, as indicated in our offer letter.
In view of the overwhelming response, please ensure that you make the payment before the deadline to secure your admission.
In case you need any further information/clarification, please write to us.
With best wishes,
G. Balasubramanian
Dean

What does this mean?? Are we again in line on the basis of FCFS Basis to secure our admission??

how bindass u r saying buddy go to welingkar bangalore , ok mumbai accepted, u know any thing inside about welingkar.yar welingkar mumbai has total some 600 students and bangalore have another 300 students and still they show their average is 7, bhai 900 student me IIM ahmedabad ka average bhi 8 se jyada nahi jayega how a school which dont come even in top 20 gives such a figure.so pls dont consider it otherwise but , pls refrain from answering blindly.ATB

See I have nothing against your institute..It is a personal judgement which is based on certain parameters which I consider are important..Comparisons are not allowed on PG but as someone asked for a friendly suggestion I posted what I would have done..I know that We School has a high Batch strength but then it includes many courses other than PGDM..Seats for PGDM Programme are quiet less in number..I cannot comment on the so called exaggerated placement figure of "We" as I don't have anything to support it.
For me We scores over IMT Hyd because they have some data (exaggerated or not) to substantiate..IMT Hyd is a relatively new facility, and like any other new institute it is lacking essential data which is a vital factor for any student while deciding a B School.Plus I think that shortlisting and selection procedure of We school is better than what IMT has adopted for Hyd campus..Another college of IMT Group, IMT Nagpur is a well established B School but it has taken some time to evolve..All I am saying is that it takes time for any institute to build its credibility..IMT Nagpur is proving itself on a year to year basis..How much time IMT Hyd will take can't be predicted as of now..
I am not talking blindly..I am trying to bring something new to the table as according to me choosing an institute is one of the most important things which one ever does in his/her life..I appreciate that you brought some new points favoring IMY Hyd as it will make candidates see both the sides of the coin while making a decision..
No Hard feelings Bro..Cheers..

IMT Hyd or Welingkar Mumbai?

Welingkar Mumbai without doubt...Even Welingkar Bangalore would be a better choice than IMT Hyderabad..

@ seniors

I have been selected for the PGDM Course and I have also confirmed my seat by paying 75k. I am a B Tech final year student and my University has declared its examination schedule today..According to the schedule I am to appear for my final sem papers from 14th July to 21st July..I am willing to join classes at IFMR from 15th June onwards and if given a week leave on the above mentioned dates I would be able to appear for my final sem exams without losing my studies at IFMR..I have intimated my situation via an email to the admission office of which I have got no response yet..Will it be a problem seniors?? I am under immense stress..Plzz help me with this problem..

That is why I had emailed the scanned copy of the draft on 4th..I did this only after asking the admissions ofc, if scanned copy will b considered to confirm my seat...they said yes at that time and now they are saying that receiving hard copy was necessary...

Did you talk to Mr. Ravishankar..He is very helpful..I wasn't sure of this email and scanned dd methods and thus went to Chennai personally from Delhi in order to confirm my seat..Also wanted to interact with the seniors as well as to see the campus...Ask them on what date did they receive your DD..Many people who have got the confirmation have posted date of receipt of their dd..This can give you fair bit of idea..For which course were you selected??

I received the following mail today from IFMR:

"We have received your admission fee of Rs.75,000/-

In view of the overwhelming response, your candidature is under consideration. We will revert back to you soon on the status of your admission."

Since in the selection mail received by me on 2nd May it was mentioned that admission is on FCFS basis, I e-mailed a scanned copy of my draft on 4th May to confirm my seat and sent by post as well on the same day. I have also withdrawn my admission from other colleges. I had called the admissions office on 4th May to confirm if seats are available and will they consider the scanned copy of the draft, I received a positive response from them. I was told that my seat will be confirmed if I e-mailed the scanned copy of the draft as hard copy will reach them after 2-3 days.

I called the admissions ofc as well...they said that I am still on the waitlist..if some cancellations happens I will be considered... I didnt expect that even after getting a selection mail I will be wait listed and wouldnt have withdrawn my admission from other colleges.. they should have mentioned it in mail itself...

I dont want to waste my whole year because of this as I have withdrawn my admission from all other colleges I had converted and have also resigned from work.

What they mean is that the total number of seats have been filled before your DD was received by the Institute..Now as you have shown interest by paying 75k they are keeping you wait-listed in case any further cancellations happen..

I am a fellow aspirant and totally understand your situation but I just can't stop wondering "why did you apply for cancellation in other colleges before you got a confirmation from IFMR".. It was clearly mentioned that admissions are to be done on FCFS basis..
