Vishal & Saket,
As mentioned in earlier posts, please know that queries related to pay package etc can not be released in forums such as these...that will be announced officially by the XL placement office on the official website...Also, some of your queries such as: "Can I have the highest international salary?, are pretty vague and can never be answered. Having said that, I will run your queries by the placecomm who'll answer whatever they can and are allowed. Wait for my response.
Thanks,
Ankana

Here's the word from Placecomm as of today:
".....it would not be prudent on our part to quote information at this stage. All the more important now because it would be incomplete in its true sense."
So please don't post any placement related queries here...you'll be able to see the same on XL website soon.

Thanks,
Ankana
It would be great if any of the seniors could throw some light on these queries and also share any of the interesting profiles which the alumnis got related to marketing or strategy. Also what are the strategic consultancies and FMCG companies which regularly hire from XLRI. I ask because these 2 areas are of interest to me.

Thanks!

Hi Seniors,

When did the classes start last year... Also anybody has any information when the classes might start this year...
Being WL'd and overseas has lot of variable to play with...
Hence requesting this information...
Thanks for the help in advance!!!

Classes started around 11-June last year...might start around the same time this year...no clue about exact dates. I was wait-listed and had approx. a month in between confirmation and joining.
Hope this helps.
All the best.

Hi

Can you give some insight into single accommodation as well ?? What does it include etc ? Is it an apartment type accommodation or a Hostel ?

Also is the dining service only available to single students or to family acco. also ?

My wife does not plan to come with me to XL but would visit me occasionally, so am trying to see what type of acco should I get.

Thanks

It's a hostel, but single acco gets one room with attached bathroom. It includes cot, table, chair, book rack, mattress, hot water, ac and a cold water cooler for each floor...bed sheets and towels are changed every week and the room is cleaned - so it's more like a hotel facility. Dining service is available for anyone who would like to opt for it. You won't be required to pay the mess fee (~4,500-5,000 per month) if you opt out. With due permission from the facility caretaker (Mr.Lazerus) your wife can stay with you in your single acco room...provided the stay doesn't extend for months...but I have seen spouses visit frequently for short durations (for 2-weeks etc).
My advise: opt for single acco if your wife doesn't plan to shift here.

Seniors can you plz throw some light on the types of accommodation available for the married persons?

Details like what are the basic things provided and what we need to arrange of our own..?

Good accommodations are available for married people. Apartment for married folks are one-bedroom-bath-drawing accos...one table, chair, cots are provided, you need to get your own mattress...hot water and ac are provided...you can buy rest of the gadgets as per your need. There's a small laundry room as well where you can fit your washing machine.
Personally, I got myself a plastic table, chair, mattresses, tv, fridge and, a washing machine to make life comfortable. A laundry boy is available on campus, but I preferred washing machine over that. And yes, let me know if anyone requires a washing machine :). It was bought brand new and is less than a year old.

I have more than 8 years of IT services experience and have GMAT score 650. interview was OK .What is my chance to get into GMP? Was there anyone got admitted in XLRI with similiar profile last year ?

There are students in the current batch who have GMAT scores around 650 with IT experience...however 8 Years IT is a typical profile...a lot depends on what else you bring to the table...industry knowledge, general knowledge, aptitude, extra curricular, exposure to different industries/geographies...therefore it's difficult to generalize. Wish you all the best!

The first investment exam...40 marks...30 mins...hilarious post-exam reaction...the hall filled with laughs...oh yes there were few people pleading the invigilator to given the extra 30 seconds...but majority said, please take the paper...The good news, 1 assignment and 2 more investment exams to go...
For me , past 2 months went by lazying around...dunno how will I survive the next 20 days...loved every bit of the 3rd & 4th sem...
Can't believe college life is coming to an end...back to the "corporate grind"...busy weekdays, happy fridays, lazy saturdays, blue mondays err monday blues...
But couple of things I'm definitely looking forward to...being with family again and the monthly moolah in my salary account...

My opinion: Any learning in a 1-year business program is based on your desire and focus to achieve. No, this isn't from any behavioral science book but a mere fact. I can assertively say that XLRI has good faculty members...but it's up to you to squeeze out the learning...And frankly, 1 year programs are pretty rigorous, so please don't think you can solve for world hunger...be sure of what you want to focus at...As far as job prospects are concerned, in the current scenario, please don't expect that things will be given to you on a platter in any b-school...if you work hard enough and know exactly what kind of job you want post mba, then you'll get it....as long as you are associated with a reputed brand and know the role you want to get into, it'll happen...but the brand alone can't do wonders for you...your past experience is equally relevant, don't think that organizations will hire you just because you've done a 1 year course...even if you land up with a good profile, it's for you to perform and grow/survive in the organization...
So, in short, if you are aware of where you want to be next year, if you think XYZ institute has the desired brand name and can impart the kind of knowledge you're looking for, go for it...

thank you for the info...
by the way what was the waiting time between the final list being declared and waitlist candidates offered seat for gmp?

As far as I remember the first list was out around the date when pak vs india cricket world cup was scheduled and I got the WL confirmation around 7-8 may. So you may do the math...
