Hi, I have an MBA from not-so-great institute. I have a total work experience of 5.3 years in Automotive/Automotive consulting. My profiles are a bit mixed up. I am considering second MBA. I wanted to know whether it makes sense going for 2nd MBA from institues like ISB?

Dear @chandan_kumar , I would like to suggest you also MISB Bocconi in Mumbai as an option.
We are the indian presence of SDA Bocconi School of Management - Milan, Italy.
Apart from being partial (I work there), I think that from the academic standing to the global opportunities we provide one of the best choices in the country (anyway you can check the international rankings to give substance to what I am saying on Bocconi). Give it a thought
You can find more info on www.misbbocconi.com

In any case, I would agree with @Dev_MBApagal , and this is my personal opinion. I would go for a second MBA only if you want to increase decisively your academic profile in order to shift in a top consulting firm and maybe on a different business field.

Warm Regards,
Giovanni

Its not so difficult to convince them...I had discussion with few seniors during their presentation in Bangalore, where they told that company doesn't care much about being 2nd MBA. You should have enough conviction about the doing 2nd MBA and you should have strong reasons.

Even I have a prior MBA but ofcourse not from a college as great as ISB. So there are many reasons why anybody wants to do MBA one more time. Just be ready with your reasons and try to convince the adcom.

@IITISB

Dear Kapil,

Greetings!

I got your information from ISB Class of 2014 aspirants page.

I wanted some clarification regarding the ISB:

I have a prior MBA from not-so-great-institute and have a total work experience of 4.5 years in 3 companies (In IT, Business Consulting and Training, and automobiles-Sales mgmt). The reason for so many switching was both preofession and personal.

However, after working for so many days, I think I am not getting the "break" which I am looking for in terms of career, work and income too.

Therefore, I am planning to do MBA again from a very reputed institute, and ISB is one of my favorites due to obvious reasons. I also follow a few ISB related forums on Pagalguy (although not frequently) just to keep me updated on what is going on in admission.

However, I have some doubts:

(1) Based on your experience at ISB and so far, how do you view doing MBA one more time from ISB in terms of adding value to me? Sorry for asking such a layman question, but I just wanted to know your point of view

(2) How will the ISB adcom team view my application as I am already an MBA? How will it affect my chances of getting interview call?

(3) How will the interview team will view my application?

(4) During the course, how will it effect my candidature for taking company projects and during placements? Does companies coming for projects and placement look at a person with prior MBA differently than any other person? Does the company look at those people from negative perspective?

I am sure you had classmates at ISB with prior MBA, therefore, I also request if you can introduce me to some of them / provide contact of them (if it is fine with you) so that I can talk to them in detail.

Sorry for bothering you.

Thanks and regards,
Chandan Kumar Modi

Hi,

This is to all current ISB students/ISB Alumni

I am an ISB aspirant and am planning to give GMAT this year. However, the biggest block I am facing in going ahead with the GMAT is my education background. I have a prior MBA from no-so-well-known-college and a total work experience of 3 years. I want to know few things:

(1) How will ad-com look to my application considering that I have a prior MBA? Will it give any negative impression to them?

(2) Will applicants like me be considered in a separate pool while evaluating the application?

(3) What kind of questions will we face during the interview if the application is shortlisted?

(4) I selected in the ISB, how will the placement company look at our CV (two MBAs in it)? Will it give any negative impression?

(5) Can you please help me in getting in touch with any ISB student who has a prior MBA?

Awaiting response on this.

Warm regards,
C K

Hi,

I am C K. Most of you would be surprised to know that I hold an MBA degress from Not-so-well-known college in India. But "yeh dil maange more...aur best...". Thats why I am planning to do MBA one more time, and this time, from no other than ISB. I have a total work experience of 37 months out of which 22 months in Consulting and training. I would like to pursue my 2nd MBA in Finance and Strategy field. I am planning to give my GMAT in this year, and will probably apply in R2.

Acads are decent:

SSC - 75.4% with topper in MAths
HSC - 80.0% School topper
BE (Electronics) - 64.5%
MBA - 3.7/5 (Top 15% in the batch)

ECs are not great (read not at all). However, have done many things in my current organization (e.g. prepared the case study, which can be used by recruitment team, created the induction program, etc etc)

Guys I need all the help for this GMAT as it would be my first GMAT. Any help is welcome. Lets see what happens.

Cheers!
