Its great to see such an article on Pagalguy. The very choice of this topic is commendable.
The need of the hour for these B-Schools is to send their faculty and few students for Trimester/Semester wise study programs to the premier Indian B-schools, just like we go for Foreign Exchange programs. This can and should be facilitated by the government coz then, it will be easy to include Govt. colleges on both sides. This will help these B-schools evolve as per the existing Indian scenario and might make the companies more comfortable with visiting their campuses.
On my end, I would urge all current B-school students reading this to go ahead and invite the students of these colleges to their respective B-school competitions. We might have a lot to learn from them and vice-versa.

@Kathiravan.J hi! i was looking at the specializations offered at IIFT, dey have finance, marketing, trade, IT, general management. dere was no mention of operations. do u hv ny idea whether dey offer specialization in operations or not??

As long as there is a minimum no. of students interesting in taking a subject/domain(the exact no. is fixed by admin), that particular subject will be offered and the students will be able to choose a minor accordingly.

@all, A few corrections. Hope this will explain the Major/Minor concept
1)Trade,Fin, Marktng, IT and Ops: Each of these domains has some subjects offered as core subjects(compulsory) and some as electives in 2nd year.
2) The no. of subjects/credits that you choose as electives from any of the above 5 domains determines your Major/Minor. For ex, a person going for dual majors can choose 4 marktng+ 4 trade electives. A person going for a major and dual minors can go for 4+2+2, 4 from major waala domain and 2+2 from each minor waala domain.
3)The actual domain in which a major should be offered depends on the interest of the batch, our senior batch did not have Ops major while we pushed hard for the same. It also depends on whether the electives offered are being taken by sufficient no. of students. Since each subject is taught by a specialized faculty, the admin wants to avoid a situation when there are only 4-5 students studying in a class.
So, in essence, there is nothing fixed such as Trade is a minor or Fin is a major. It all depends on the interest of the batch and the numbers for each elective/domain.

i got selected into iift delhi i came to know that every college has tie up with some special identified branches for iift delhi it is NCERT sbi branch but i am non local so can i go and apply for loan in delhi branch but i am not from delhi
ArpitKul
Arpit Kulshreshtha @ArpitKul
Once you apply for the loan and it is sanctioned, you can always ask SBI for the 1st installment which you paid outta ur pocket. That money is credited to your personal account. The college is not involved in this in any manner, its a simple transaction btwn u and SBI.

For the loan, every person who does not have an SBI accnt will have to open an account with NCERT branch. But this is a very easy/short process and can easily be done while filling the loan formalities. Most of the ppl applying for loan from NCERT branch are non-delhi ppl so don't worry on that front. The loan formalities can be done easily after you join college. Just start collecting the necessary docs.
Loan limit is 15L without collateral

Hello friends I have a delhi convert at 51.167 in General category. Will be going for L though. Thankful to all puys for all kinds of support. Wait list moves by 1. Hope it helps. :mg:

Just a minor correction, though it won't make much of a difference. Last one to convert Delhi last year was WL 63. From #64 to #67, 3 out of these 4 ranks had withdrawn admission sometime before the last movement and hence were not considered, making #68 WL-2. But again, +/- 10 ranks is no big deal.

After reading for around 30 mins. I decided to post some information: 1\. I am seriously disappointed the way seniors ( as they claim) are coming and commenting on public forum since the day results have been announced. On the results day a senior (not to name) comes and says I think there ...

@rokhat Since your 2nd point is directed towards my discussion with @pankajkute83 , I believe I should clarify some things.
1)Never did I say that a guy with WL 34/35 has a zero chance of Delhi convert, my words were " borderline case" and that, dear friend, does not mean zero chances, it means 50-50 chances. As I said earlier, the aim is not to demotivate, its just to keep hopes realistic. The point is that no one can predict the overlaps and hence no one can say whether WL will stop at 30 or go till 60.
2) Nowhere do we(current students), claim to be seniors. We just claim to be what we are,"current students of IIFT". Kindly go through the post I made yesterday if you want a proof.
3) We get as much info from the admin as you get, sometimes even less coz they say it doesn't concern us. Do not forget that this is a sarkaari college. As for the intake and seats issue, NO ONE and I repeat NO ONE can give a conclusive answer, neither the aspirants, nor the current students.
4)Request to all, for all genuine queries, please use the FB group. It is much easier for us to manage and answer queries there, and do bear with the delay coz of our ongoing internships.
Having been in the exact same place last year( regarding WL), I do understand the anxiety and it is the only reason I volunteered to reply on this forum. The intention, I repeat, is not to demotivate anyone. ATB everyone.

When can we expect the complete list to be shared, in response to the RTI, consisting of the cumulative score of all the 975 GD-PI shortlists ?
ArpitKul
Arpit Kulshreshtha @ArpitKul
As soon as someone takes the pain of going to the campus, pay Rs.32 for photocopy, scan it and put it up on the net. The admin will not be putting the list up, as stated in the RTI response.
