Prometric opens the edit window again in the CAT 2009 online registration

open-window.jpg The online registration for CAT 2009 is again open for editing (except the name and username) until November 27, 2009 as a scrutiny by Prometric revealed that there were some who still hadn’t entered all the necessary information such as graduation marks, discipline, SSC, HSC marks in the registration form. Entering this information is necessary because leaving these fields empty may hamper a candidate’s chances of getting GD and PI calls from b-schools even though he may have secured the desired percentile in CAT.

To make sure that a candidate does not miss a chance to get into a b-school of his choice due to an incomplete registration form, Prometric is informing candidates, whose applications are incomplete by sending emails (such as the one shown below) stating the corrective steps that need to be taken. The emails might come as a surprise to those who believe that they had carefully filled all the fields during registration. However, according to Prometric candidate-service, there is a possibility that the information entered by a candidate was lost while scrolling the page thus leaving the application incomplete.

Prometric Vice-President and General Manager, Asia Pacific, Japan and Africa, Ramesh Nava says, “In the final week leading up to the CAT 2009 testing window, Prometric ran a final check to ensure that candidates have entered all the required fields during their online application. Where missing data have been found, an email was sent to the affected candidates to allow them one final opportunity to return to their profile on iim.prometric.com to enter the missing details between 23rd and 27th November 2009.”

Hence it is advisable to check your email regularly till November 27, 2009 for any such communication from Prometric regarding registration. One way of doing this is to check it once at the end of the day everyday. If you do receive an email like the above one, just go to http://iim.prometric.com and fill in the necessary details. Calling up candidate care will not help as they would not have much to add to what has already been said in the email. Do not panic as this is a routine check and there is ample time to correct and fill up data that you might have missed.

Noticing the similar mail received by a team member of mine and in subsequent discussion I have realized that the best strategy to confirm completeness of your form is to go back to the last mail received from Prometric (after filling the form or after last modification) and then matching the information there with the one given in mail format of this article. As the formats match, its very easy to check that these minimum details are in order.
In case of mine junior, he didn’t selected the center choice for IIM Shilong for some reason and this triggered mail to him.
But still kudos to Prometric for running this checklist on entire database, though making all these fields mandatory at first would have been much better.

CAT registration number changes if you go back to see the data you have entered and press ‘Save’ button. I guess you need to get this new admit card for the test now.

Some people are having trouble in identifying what is the problem in the form. Please check the fields which say “Select All that Apply” for eg. in education select HSC. SSC and Undergrad.. so that you can fill up marks for those exams too.

Knight09 and Dinesh Sharma: Many people who apparently have nothing missing in their form have rec’d the above emails, so don’t worry as yours is not the only case. However, it is advisable to check your form in case you rec’ve an email or sms from Prometric stating that your form is incomplete.

@vishwas.saxena8- I too lost my voucher no. and now am unable to access my profile… I tried calling the Helpline, but it always puts me on hold. I have been trying since the morning. What did the Helpline people tell you?

I received the email this morning and I found nothing wrong with my application. the only thing i can think of is that i hadn’t chosen IIMS earlier. Selected it now and resubmitted the application.

If I have made any mistake(s) while registering for CAT 2009, can I make changes later to rectify?

Note: If you re-register or reschedule, you must carry the most recent admit card and attend the most recent test session.

This is of no use if the registration number does not changes. Every time you press the “Save” button on your profile, it will result into a new CAT registration number/Prometric ID. This means all those people have to intimate institutes like MDI etc. about the changes in their registration number.

Hi Puys,
I had also forgot my id and password but I got it from the Candidate Care Toll free number.
But there I had to hang up in queue for 15 min, to get the information.
Candidate Care number 18001039293.
There are Check box for HSC, SSC and Graduation or Masters if applicable, Plz select what is applicable to you. I had missed the HSC and SSC. So I got the mail.

I’ve also get the same message though my all info. are updated and filled.
still i crosschecked today but no gain as there was nothing to update. One thing that is not clear is that in prometric site there is no check box for metric and 10 percentage so, why the hell they r asking to update details pertaining to 10 and 12.

The Registration Number does not change on receipt of new admit card. It remains the same. Try it

@ Vijay … man chk out itz given above the option for education to “select all thats applies” so when you will select SSC n HSC thn only they vl ask for the respective percentages …
Kudos IIMs n Prometric for their yet another chance to all ..

In The Education Qualification, Please select the all applicable check boxes 10, 12 and Graduate etc. whatever is applicable for you. Once u check the check box then only the 10,12 and graduation board, % mark fill text field will be populated or shown.
Just visit once more and try.

Man this is perpelxing… i have entered every detail they have asked for n i still get this mail.Cross checked it with my frnd’s and there are nothing missing.On top op that the mail says-”PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT IIMs OR CANDIDATE CARE FOR THIS FEATURE”.

This is very strange, In the confirmation mail from Prometric after registration, I recieved all the details including my marks for SSC and HSC. If it was captured correctly then why are they asking it again?? This is frustrating

i too got an email for an incomplete application, with seemingly nothing missing…. i did not apply to IIMS in my app.. so i guess tht cld be a reason..

It seems I have a different and a very queer problem . I received an email from prometric stating that my test center has been changed and relocated to a different site hence I should resend my admit card to obtain a new updated version.However, the test site mentioned in the email and the new admit card is same as the previous center.I sent an email to prometric asking for clarification but have received no answer.please help

I think the problem is with interview centers. I too received the email and SMS and now looks like if you have selected an IIM then the corresponding IIM should be selected in the choice of interview centers and then location has to be selected.

Guys, Even I had forgotten my username and password. I tried the CAT contact center (18001039923) like 40 times and finally got in touch with them and got my details again. Don’t worry, they have extented the dates for editing; just got this email

Dear Candidate

We contacted you previously to inform you of some missing data that we found in your CAT 2009 application. Please go to https://iim.prometric.com if you haven’t already done so, to enter the missing details. Should you have misplaced your Username or password, or voucher number, we are doing our best to help you retrieve them. In view of this, Prometric and IIMs have extended the availability of this ‘Edit’ feature until midnight (IST) on 11 December 2009. Please note that editing any application information will not have any impact on your test appointment and it will not generate a new Admit Card. Any changes will be logged once the ‘SAVE’ button has been clicked.

We appreciate your patience in this regard

same prob guys.. i have my application form filled completely.. still i get a message sayin incomplete form.. i contacted them via a “contact us link”… i got reply sayin …thank u have been scheduled for the test…so.on.. today i got mail with same old warning… i contacted again… now i was replied sayin tht edit option ll be extended till DEC 11… but my prob is i m not able to login …i.d & password error…. cant get back login details..?

i have been trying to contact the customer service number as the new password which was issued to me following an attempt to retrieve my forgotten password, does not seem to work with my username. i havent been able to speak to any person who could help me with the matter either. and im very worried if today is the last day for the edit feature on my application. somebody please help. hey abhijit…do one thing, just call the number then dial any option say 1 then immediately dial 0 which wil transfr the cal to candidate care represntative. be online patiently and tel thm ur name n cat reg number. keep trying the number…u ll get help. i lost my id n passwrd,n got retrieved.. dont worry…n if u have lost ur voucher also, they wil tel u that. only thing,u need to have ur cat registration id which wil be thr in the mail they sent us earlier wen we applied.

I had a query regarding the filling of the type of Institution/University option.
I have done my BE from college in Mumbai. So does it come under the option – “Universities incorporated by Central or State Legislature or Deemed Universities, as defined in the eligibility criteria for Post-graduate Programmes of IIMs ” or should I select “any other”.

I have been trying to call prometric from my airtel landline phone, but all I am getting is an engaged tone. I am believe 1800 numbers only work with Bsnl, so is there any other prometric number that i could try, it doesn’t need to be toll-free.

^^ Just call prometric at their number, they will ask you for certain details that you mentioned in the application, and if you answer them correctly, the prometric guys will change the password for you, and they will inform you what the new password is.
